This is not supposed to be some uber-huge write up and I'm pretty sure I'm not that good at it anyway, I just thought I'd share this pretty neat experience with those, who have enough interest to read all of this or at least check out some of the pics and vids I'm going to post over the next few days. I also managed to capture Kaz's car on tape a few times. Excuse the stupid-ish commentary during the vids.

At about 9:30am at the Saturday last week we (my best pal Andreas and me), started our journey to the 24h of Nürburgring. Starting from our home town Hannover, roughly 400km away from the Nurb, which is a lot, we needed like 3.5 hours and only because Andreas put the pedal to the metal in his sexy new BMW, teh pics:

Our gear:

Teh car: (My pals car)

Washing the killed flies off his baby: :dopey: (It's Andreas, not me)

On our way we stopped at a restaurant, which made me chuckle a little because of it's name, so I edited the pic I took:

Le little edit:

I know I'm silly but I couldn't resist.

We arrived at around 13pm, built our little camp with one tent (yes one lol). After that we headed to one of the grandstands to watch the start of the race but the place was stupid so we got back to where our tent was (Hatzenbach) and sat down there on the grass, right at the first corner of the Nordschleife, that was awesome! Pic:

Two hours later I walked about 7 kilometers down the track and took some video footage of it. At about 8pm I was back and we went back to the first corner. Andreas left me there alone at about 9:30pm, I simply wanted to see the cars race into the night and at night actually. Around me the flavour of all the grilled meat and beer (oh my pal's full name is actually Andreas Beer lol), anyway, more and more artificial lights turned on and the headlights of the cars became really bright and beautiful. The whole scenery around me had some certain feel of peace to it, hard to describe. One night-ish shot:

dscn0654qd.jpg

Also some of the cars were so much louder than I had anticipated, like the Astons, Mercedeses, BMWs and the Audis. Sometimes the earth underneath you would start to vibrate, when those cars started accelerating. The LFA and P4/5 also sounded great.

By 11pm my legs started to really hurt and it was getting really cold (and I was hungry lol), so I decided it was enough for this day and went back to the tent, where Andreas was excitingly waiting for me. :embarrassed:  Jk Jk guys.
Anyway, we chatted on his I-phone with some ladies and at about 12pm we decided to get outside next to one of the many fires and drink some vodka he brought with him, and this is where all the fun started. (Irony) We drank until about 1.30am, also a little with the thought of being warmed by it and feel really tired, so we could sleep better, because it was really cold and loud outside. Here a pic of the fire:

Right after I layed down and started to fall asleep, this "feeling" came up and I knew this night was going to be horrible. And I was right. I puked about 4 times during the night and slept horribly. The next morning...was even more horrible, I had to puke several times again over the period of several hours, so my body wasn't even thinking of stopping feeling like ****! At about 10am I decided to leave, I felt MISERABLE, Andreas was bored by the race (he isn't much of a car guy actually) and the intense heat of the sun and the smell of gasoline everywhere didn't help me to recover at all. :yuck:

I absolutely do NOT regret going there, but next time it would need to be more people, (also people, who are actually also interested in the race as I am) and...less vodka. By the way, I actually hate alcohol in general, I rarely drink, but as I stated above I hoped for a deep sleep, oh well. Again, all in all I'm very happy I made the trip but people listen to me, get others with you, who are also car nuts and get some proper gear like a grill and meat, and for your own sake don't drink too much, the gasoline smell with the suns heat will kill you, with that considered it'll be much more fun than in my case!

If you wonder why I posted so little pics: I'm making a video with the pics I shot undertoned with some fancy GT music or so, so wait for this, could take a while to upload, my connection here is horrendous. I have 5 videos in total, so just wait for them to pop up.

I hope you enjoyed my little write up at least a little and got some insight.

Cheers 👍

What's up with the chrome sidebar on the Bmw??
I thought the germans like the clean look, not the bling bling gangzta look ;) ?

Will follow this thread ;)

Keep everything coming for those who could not make it (for the 2 last years needed to work on this very saturday :(, but watched it on Sport1/Dsf)

When you started with the Vodka anecdote, I knew what was coming. So many people are hammered there. "Sadly", a lot of the visitors there are more there to do party and get drunk for 5 days then actually enjoying a race themed weekend.

Next time I go for the N24 (did also the camping, never again, only good way is to do it like the pro's = 10 tents and 3 busses), it's a Hotel room and either way I need to find press or Vip passes. I want to get into those hugely luxuries lounges.

That's true somehow I guess, but first of, it's not my car, and it's not that much of chrome-ish stuff. :P

I see. If the money is there, it DEFINATLY is the better choice. But without alcohol and some earplugs it's quite doable in the tent. 👍

Was more kidding than anything else. But it's the first time I actually see it on a 3er

Amazing write-up. Very funny story about the vodka!

And what exactly is 'Nürburgrung'? Is it a food you had at Gusticus?

Should have fixed typo in thread title also!, nice slide show (with sound off) don't care for techno music.

Oh God what a fail, sorry. Also, it isn't even techno, but still not everyone's taste, I figure. 👍

I also have a photo of the black GT-R in the parking lot, nice and dirty :)

Fun story to read. 👍

Nice thread. Was there, too; the SLS and P4/5 Competizione had the best sound, in my opinion. :D 👍
P 4/5 was an amazing sound indeed, I liked the Aston Martins sound alot myself, off course you could hear the SLS before seeing it coming, nice low sound.

 at the lightweight/vodka incident - but good advice really. Unlike your good self, I drink quite alot, and yet I managed to spend the entire race weekend at the Italian GP last year with practically no alcohol at all. I did buy an ice cold can of beer for the race, but I ended up not drinking it until after the race was over (and the beer was warm!) When it is that hot and you are out all day, though, booze is the last thing you need!!

Great to see the pics and videos, and I'm very jealous! Cheers for sharing :)👍

Jk jk man, cool story actually. The warm beer tasted delicious I guess. :yuck:
I know I would be totally unable to drink it. Thx for the nice words also.
I uploaded all the footage by now. 👍

Very nice report of your adventures. It's a real shame you did not make it untill the end because of feeling sick. You know, you can always get sick, but especially during these events far away from home it's best to take it easy with alcohol.

Poolhaas and I were extremly thirsty after our detour in woods, but we did not have beer, but icecold cola, that was soooooooooooooo nice.

It's good to hear that a tent is doable. I am definitly going back next year and then for the full event. I have already seen night racing at Spa and Zolder, so I must also experience this at the Nordschleife.

As for the vid with the stills, I like the music. I play it almost every day driving to work. It's an epic song for me as it reminds me of the release video of the Nordschleife for GT4.

Anyway, Verabredung fur das nachste Jahr. Wir werden uns treffen 👍

4. Cool.

5. Nice, I also like it very much, kinda very chilly and special this song. 👍

6. Sounds great!

Nothing special really. 150HP, but we did hit 240 km/h. :D
I thought to try it out in Germany myself but it turns out it's all 130 km/h limit on my route. Not that any German driver minded, I felt like a granny driving at 140.

Your route must suck then. I have never driven a route longer than 200km without at least a few of them without a speed limit. C'est la vie.:sly:

I saw one (1) sign with 130 crossed, then before I reached 170 the next sign showed 120 :grumpy:

acceleration!

But I don't say anything. Within the hilly sections, my car started to roll backwards :)
Edit: Poolhaas, apply the Nordschleife sticker. It adds 20 horses!

Alex, question, did you take the beemer on the camping site? Or did you leave it on the parking and then setup your tents? How much is the fee per day for you and your car on the camping?

No we didn't. That would cost us (20-30?) euros a day more or so. But we had to pay 13 euros already for the tent, theoretically a day, but actually it's only one time, when you enter a certain part of the track, no one is going to check afterwards. Also, we didn't take our car with us because there was already little space left, it was very hilly and the thought of having a new car standing there for more than 24h, while drunk people are everywhere around it, isn't really comfortable. :scared: We parked it some 1-2km away outside the track, there are many special parking lots (for the 24h Nurb visitors), you only pay 5 euros once, for the whole week even. 👍

Yeah that is where I also parked my car. So park the car there. Then walk a couple of times to get everything a the campsite.

The historic race looked also brilliant.

amazing huh.

But it attracks to cops too. I was halted yesterday. I feared the worst.

They told me that my towhook was ubstructing my license plate. I was not fined. They told me I was lucky. They said that some collegues just write a ticket only by looking.

Now, then I wonder how can they write a ticket by just observering while they think the view of my license plate is obstructed by my towhook. Interesting way or working the Dutch police has.

180 Euro saved....

Speaking of which, still waiting for my speeding ticket to arrive, 12 km outside the Ring
