Ladies and gentlemen, whether your college is the powerhouse of Ohio State, the Oklahoma Sooners, the Texas Longhorns, the USC Trojans, the UCLA Bruins, or whatever, college football is now two weeks old as of the post of this introduction. I tihnk it's time to create a college football thread. You know, if you want to talk college for this season or past seasons. This is your college football thread, courtesy of I, John M. While I'm trying to look into the University of Houston, let me start with Week 2 results (results courtesy of my Yahoo! Messenger). By the way, I'm probably not going to remember coming back here with fresh information on rivalry games as well as Bowl games. So, here goes:

NCAA FOOTBALL RESULTS: http://www.ncaafootball.net/0,5717,1_161_0_59502,00.html

Just a quick rundown of what happened among others.
* Kansas State get OWN3D by Fresno State.
* Oregon State's Beavers get blown out on the blue field of the Boise State Broncos.
* Sadly, Oklahoma whipped Houston's asses 63-13. Not even close, and Houston's next big game? Miami Hurricanes.
* And oh yeah, Troy (formerly Troy State) whipped the crap out of the #17 ranked Missouri Tigers of the Big XII North.
* Texas Southern loses on the road in Alabama for Div. 1-AA football.
* Texas A&M put a Texas-size hurtin' on the Wyoming Cowboys in College Station, TX, USA.
* Texas put the Arkansas Razorbacks on the shelf winning against them.
* In-State rivals turn in-conference rivals as Miami faced Florida State at the Orange Bowl (where this year's national title game will be played). And a thrilling performance by both teams resulted in a big win for the ACC's Miami Hurricanes. And all the talk about FSU field goal kickers who go WIDE LEFT and WIDE RIGHT? Well, they did pretty well in this game, but Miami beat the Seminoles in overtime.

There are so many games in a given weekend, so these are only a few results of some of the other games in 1-A football and lower. Want to make this thread work? Reply about college football, and if you want more information, be sure to check out the "College Football" link in my signature to go to the official site for NCAA College Football. Well, reply on, college fans of gridiron football!

I like the idea but when you write about the games i think you should space them a little better so its easier to pick out the different games

I didn't want to make a very long first post on it, so I edited my introduction so that you can see the games. The asteriks (*) kind of serve as bullets for my points. Other games I probably haven't mentioned...

* You know, I'm very sorry for not talking about this, but how can the Michigan Wolverines lose to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish? Well, it happened this weekend.
* The Georgia Bulldogs went from a depressing start to win over the (don't laugh) South Carolina Gamecocks.

Coming up this weekend, it looks like CBS will start up its SEC coverage here, so I think we'll see what I would call the "Tiger Bowl" when the Auburn Tigers face the BCS Champs, LSU Tigers. Then I'm going to try to follow the Tennessee Volunteers more as they face one of their rivals, the Florida Gators. College football, folks. For more information, of course take a look at: http://www.ncaafootball.net .

When I was looking online on another forum site, one site mentioned a website where you can check out fight songs as well as other songs from colleges. So take a look at this site I found, if you are a fan of college fight songs:

http://www.fightmusic.com

So if I posted a site outside of the AUP and stuff, I apologize. It was because I was searching for some sort of site on college football fight songs, and it featured the different college songs from what you'd hear from the Tennessee Volunteers, the Auburn Tigers, or even the Ohio State Buckeyes. No, let me rephrase... THE Ohio State Buckeyes! Anyhow, I think TCU plays Texas Tech this Saturday. TCU joins the Mountain West apart from their Conference USA division. I think Houston faces Army next, so they have a chance to recuperate from the ass-kicking the Houston Cougars got from the Oklahoma Sooners. But I'll tell you one thing. Houston is going to have to play their hearts out against Miami. You know- force turnovers, pick the ball off, hold the Hurricane offense to field goals in the End Zone...

Anyhow, should be a good weekend. I'll try to check out the Volunteers as they play against Florida this weekend. And uh... Big 12 North... PLEASE IMPROVE!!!

WEEK 3 PREVIEW

* Due to Hurricane Ivan, the game between Pine Bluff and Alabama State has been postponed.
* Since Hurricane Ivan moved out, CBS should show what I called the "Tiger Bowl," as SEC competitors Auburn and LSU face off Saturday Night.
* Saying that this is Friday, UConn and Boston College will battle this Friday night (as of the date of this report I made, which is 4:10 PM CDT).
After landing an upset win over Michigan, Notre Dame will look to pwn the Michigan State at Michigan State this weekend. This will be an evening game as gametime is 6:55 PM EDT on ESPN.
* "Rocky Top, oh, Rocky Top..." the Florida Gators go to the University of Tennesse to meet the Volunteers. Gametime is at 8 PM EDT this Saturday.
* The Maryland Terrapins meet West Virginia Mountaineers. The Terps have beaten down the Mountaineers in the past, and look to continue with that.
* If I'm not mistaken, the University of Houston will go on the road to face the Army Black Knights. With all due respect to the Houston Cougars, they're going to need a lot of impressive performances to absoutely beat down their opponents. They lost to their rivals, the Rice Owls, and then that mega-blowout to Oklahoma. Army should be a winnabe game.
* USC goes to BYU in a western shootout at 10 PM EDT this Saturday. And for newcomers to college sports, BYU stands for "Brigham Young University." I think they are based in Provo, UT, USA.
* Oregon meets up against Oklahoma this Saturday.
* Ohio State will take on North Carolina State this Saturday.
* Texas A&M ??? and Nicolas State in Division 1-AA will be postponed due to H. Ivan.
* Upset? Or Blowout? The game is going to be Lousiana Tech vs. Miami (FL). The Hurricanes came off of beating their in-conference rivals, Chris Rix and the Florida State Seminoles, and this should be a very winnable game for the Hurricanes as they strive to go to this year's Orange Bowl game.
* Roll Tide Roll! Alabama is ready to hit it off against Western Carolina this weekend.

GAME UPDATE (A = Away Team; H = Home Team)

(A) UConn Huskies: 7 Next: Army Black Knights
(H) Boston College Eagles: 27 Next: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

You have to remember about college football, there are games ALL OVER AMERICA! So I'm trying to include as many different college games as I can, then try to put it all into one reply to this thread. These are only a few of the many games for this weekend. So American college football fans, get out there and suppport your favorite team! Tailgate with pride. If your favorite team is playing at home, be like Texas A&M and give your team a 12th Man Advantage! Have a great weekend, college fans! I'll hopefully be back to post the results of this weekend's games.

Before I begin this reply, good luck to both Oscar de la Hoya and Anthony Hopkins this Saturday night in Las Vegas. Also, I have a high school congratulations to Blanche Ely for winning over close-by rivals. On top of that, two thumbs up to Boston College for beating the UConn Huskies. Perhaps telling the UConn Huskies to stick to college basketball, but they are improving.

Hello again! I'm now going to title games. I'm now going to attempt to talk about the results of as many games as possible.

WEEK 3 OF DIVISION 1-A

* "Kicking Aztec" Michigan defeats San Diego State 24-21. But when I seen the last bit of the game, SDSU intentionally banged into the Michigan QB head-first to the helmet after taking a knee, killing the clock. Doesn't matter. Game over.
* "Shattered Dreams" After some great plays in the fourth quarter, the Pittsburgh Panthers still fall short to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 24-17 as PITT tried to throw one up into the endzone to have it incomplete.
* "Sooner than Later" The Oregon Ducks of the PAC-10 get blown out by the Big XII's Oklahoma Sooners.
* "Grrreat Football" What Ivan? In glorious sunshine, Auburn knocks off LSU. Rejoice, PhatFat! I called it the "Tiger Bowl," and AU pulled it out in Alabama. And there's no General Motors about it, but Cadillac broke through the tackles for Auburn.
* "Who'd Like to Volunteer?" Florida was looking to beat the Tennessee Volunteers, but it took a field goal to win by a few... AND THEY DID! Oh, Rocky Top!
* "You Herd Me?" Georgia beats the Marshall Thundering Herd 13-3.
* "Top of the Mountain" West Virginia beat the Maryland Terrapins in Overtime 19-16.
* "It's Raining Orange" The Syracuse Orange (formerly "Orangemen") beat Cincinatti 19-7. Cincinatti will join the Big East next year apart from Conference USA.
* "Paterno's Heroes" Penn State's Nittany Lions took on and took out UCF (Central Florida).
* "Hokie Justice" The Virgina Tech Hokies beat Duke today.
* "No Eli? No Problem!" Ole Miss beat Vanderbilt.
* "Blown Away" I knew this would be a blowout. The Hurricanes beat down Louisiana Tech 48-0. Their next target is my future alma mater, the UH Cougars.
* "You Sure This Is College FOOTBALL?" Speaking of Tech schools, Texas Tech blown out the future members of the Mountain West, not to mention last year's Cinderella story, Texas Christian University (TCU). Final score is a college basketball-like 70-35.
* "Ragin' Wildcats" After a disappointing loss to the underrated Fresno State Bulldogs, Kansas State blew out the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns.
* "Red-Hot Redhawks" Miami OH beats the Ohio Bobcats in this MAC Conference game.
* "P.O.'ed Tigers" Mizzou was beating up and shutting up the Ball State Cardinals.
* "51 to Zip" Virginia Cavaliers shut out the Akron Zips today 51-0.
* "Heart of a Buckeye" Ohio State took on North Carolina State and winning.
* "Taming of the Huskies" UCLA beat the Washington Huskies
* "An Army of Cougars" Houston beats Army 35-21.
* "Oops! They Did It Again!" Notre Dame beat Michigan State, so that means that the team from South Bend, IN, USA beat Michigan's top two teams. ND faces the slumping Wash. Huskies next.

These are only a few games, so be sure to go to http://www.ncaafootball.net for more scores. I'll continue with the next reply as I talk about Div. 1-AA games. I didn't want a really-long list, so if you want to know about non-Div 1 games, read the next reply.

WEEK 3 OF DIVISION 1-AA AND OTHERS

* "Tribal Dance" The William and Mary Tribe win their game today over New Hampshire.
* "What Brown Can Do" The Brown Bears beat Albany today
* "Advanced Whitening" While losing to Delaware in the 1-AA championship game last year, Colgate took down the Dartsmouth Big Green. And as a "Did You Know," DID YOU KNOW Speed Channel analyst Bob Varsha is a Dartsmouth alumni?
* "Unholy Alliance" Harvard taken out Holy Cross in Div. 1-AA Football.
* Tenn Tech VMI
Charso I'Ville
* SE Mo takes down C Mich
* Yale, Harvard's biggest rival, beats Dayton.
* College NJ pounced on La Salle
Richmond UMass
* "Put Up Your Dukes!" The James Madison Dukes beat Villanova.
* "Stoned Hard" Wagner takes out Stony Book.
* "Cyclone Fever" The Iowa State Cyclones of the Big XII North wins today.
* ""ST Fran PA over Valparaiso
* "Duq Nuk'd 'em" Duquesne wins in their game Georgetown 45-7
Hampton
* "To Kill a Snake" The Florida A&M Rattlers lose today to Temple.
* "Fight in the Dog" Illinois' Fighting Illini was beaten by the Central Michigan Chippewas.
* "Cooked Well Done" Grambling State cooks Bethune-Cookman well done by pulling it out at the end to beat B-C.
* "" Monmouth over Rob Morris
* "Fear the Phoenix" Elon Phoenix erased Delaware State.
* "State Showdown" Murray State over Indiana State
* "Let 'em Have It!" Alabama A&M won today.
* "Beaten Bulldogs" App St. over Citadel.
* "Bottom of the Barrel" Texas Southern University is 0-2 in the SWAC Conference looking for a W. Well... they didn't get the W they wanted. They LOST 52-6 to Northwestern State.
* "Cat Fight" This is a special one because this is my first ever football game I been to. More detail on it in a moment. In the meanwhile, the Southern Jaguars covered very well against the Prairie View A&M Panthers 42-12 at wonderful Reliant Stadium.

It's yet another big weekend of college football action, and I included as many games as possible. Because after all, everyone has their favorite college. Now, Week 4 is coming up, see you then with perhaps another big list of games! Ironically, there are many more games I haven't listed. So be sure to look at http://www.ncaafootball.net for more results.

Okay, as a special, I want to talk about my experiences at my first football game, much less college football. The day was a somewhat cloudy evening, and it was my very first visit to Reliant Stadium. So I had a chance to see where the Houston Texans play when they have home games (like this weekend (Minnesota) and next weekend (Oakland)). The first thing I noticed was that... the place looked small on the field! It looks like they play on much more vast land on TV, but it's so much different in person. On top of that, me, my brother, and his friends were all sitting like... 8 rows up. So I was there watching SWAC Conference teams Southern and Prairie View A&M go at it. The Jaguars and Panthers (respectively) both played a great game. It was pretty fun to get into the game by cheering on Southern. I was cheering Southern because my brother knows someone from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA, USA.

The most fascinating play in the game was this field goal that Prairie View made, but was blocked. Afterwards, Southern returned it almost all the way for the touchdown, but they were wrapped up en route to the Endzone. There was the ever-present "Battle of the Bands" later. PV had the better band, seemingly. Not because Southern played Britney Spears' "Toxic" for their dancers, but they kind of didn't go all-out like PV did. Southern was fun, though. The game ended 42-12, Southern.

Carry on NCAA Football talk, folks!

WEEK 4 RESULTS

Here's a quick rundown of this weekend's games. I don't have many of them, since I was watching Petit Le Mans.

* "Trojan Triumph" With USC going to Palo Alto, CA, USA, USC scored early, then it was all Stanford Cardinal including a "that-should-have-been-defended-better" run play from Stanford that ticked off the USC sideline. And playing with the heart of a champion, the University of Southern California remains the #1 ranked team in America winning by a field goal.
* "Texas Tough" The University of Texas Longhorns owned UH's (University of Houston) rival, Rice University.
* "They Could Have Been Giants" With a chance to try to knock off the #4 Miami Hurricanes, Houston failed as they lost by more than two touchdowns on Thursday night at Reliant Stadium.
* "Rocky Road" The Washington Huskies lost 38-3 to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. So that makes it three bigtime teams knocked off. They've taken down Michigan, Michigan State, and now Washington.
* "Men in Blue" The electrifying Boise State Broncos had a sort of a 4th Quarter thriller against the BYU (Brigham Young University) Cougars as the Broncos win. I have them as the surprise team of the year.
* "Seminole" Florida State wins this year's iteration of the "Bowden Bowl," beating Clemson.
* "Chomp Chomp!" The Florida Gators took a bite out of the basketball standout, the Kentucky Wildcats
* "Blaze it Up" The UAB Blazers win in their game against the Tigers of Memphis.
* "XII Reasons Why We Rock!" The Texas Tech Red Raiders and Kansas Jayhawks face off at lovely Kansas University. Beautiful KU got ugly as Texas Tech took down the Jayhawks and go to 3-1 this season.
* "Rabid Wolverines" Michigan improves to 3-1 beating #24 Iowa.
* "Locomotion" Purdue's Boilermakers freight trained through Illinois.
* "Madison Avenue" Wisconsin took down the Nittany Lions of Penn State.
* "Devils Made Cry" Maryland's Terrapins took down the Duke Blue Devils
* "East Lancing Spartans" Michigan State University over Indiana
* "UConn't Stop Us!" UConn over Army
* "Cougar Beatdown" Washington State took down and took out Arizona
* "Razor-Sharp" The Arkansas Razorbacks weren't phased by the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
* "Not Your Average Ducks" The Oregon Ducks of the PAC-10 defeated Potato country's Idaho Vandals of the Sun Belt.
* "Down Again!" The Baylor Bears of the Big XII shut the North Texas Eagles yet again. North Texas remains winless from what I hear.
* "Cardinal Champions" Louisville's Cardinals took down the North Carolina Tar Heels in a shutout.

* "Bearkats on the Prowl" the Sam Houston State Bearkats of Huntsville, TX, USA take down Southeast Louisiana.
* "SWhACked!" Texas Southern University loses at home in Houston, TX, USA 21-6 to the Nich State Cardinals.
