I've just bought an EVO VI TME... :D
But I have some money left and I want to spend them on increasing performance and on a new set of wheels . So people what would you suggest to purchase first to increase power and what wheels do you think looks best on TME because I can't decide...

Any suggestions would be appreciated

P.S
Sorry for my English..:( I know ... It's terrible

First I would get a gear box, suspension and probably T2s if you are running races with tire wear, if not, get some t4 to t8 if no wear is on the tires. :)

Actually, your English is a lot better than most members of this site's English...

Have you got pics of your new car?

No I haven't got pics of my car yet :banghead: You know I bought 2 days ago and I haven't got any camera at home but soon I will somehow get some pics (I PROMISE!) because it's the best car I have ever had :D

Man... I'm talking about the real life.. not a GT3...:P

ok, d'oh wrong thing to think about, see how work poisons the mind. I would suggest gears, suspension and brakes before you put any power into the car. It should already have enough kick to it as is, probably is just geared a little off. Brakes also.
Modding a car by Miata

You first need to know what you want. A power house, a handler, and all around butt kicker. From that point start picking out what parts you need, and start from the ground up.
1st - Big Brakes, Suspension and Safety - Seats, belts, cage and frame supports
2nd - inside engine tweaking first and foremost - you have to know what you are going to be dealing with to get everything correct
3rd - bolt-ons - Intake, exhauits,turbos etc.
4th - Tires - you need to keep it on the ground

If you want some power for a small amount of cash get a K&N filter (if it can go on one of those). About a 20 HP increase just because of an Air filter :)...

paint it phosporecent pink dude!!! add 22 inch chromed wheels on BFgoodrich rubber, and a metal-looking plastic wing. oh, and of course a 200kg body kit and tons of stickers. that oughta make your car the titezt and baddezt ride of all yo :embarrassed:!!

Cano

please, slap me.

If you feel the "Need For Speed", then add a little more horsepower first. The K&N idea is about the best "bang for the buck" you'll find. I make my living doing this stuff, and the only other thing that'll give you CHEAP Horsepower is to upgrade the Exhaust system (either the muffler OR the whole system itself).
good luck with the EVO!! If you need any advice on performance mods just e-mail me if you don't get the answers you need here.:) :D

Also, you can get a manual "Grainger " valve(boost controller) from TurboXS.com for around $70.
It'll also help your turbo "spool-up" faster!!!

In what shape, way or form are you going to legitimately find an exhaust system cheap? I guarantee you that it will at least cost upwards of $500 as long as it is new. The true cheap way of upgrading the car is working on it yourself! Study the engine and learn little tuning tricks where you don't have to add any parts to the car. Maybe short a circuit here, and re-wire it to there, so on and so forth. A carburated engine is the easiest to adjust and work on for next to nothing power upgrades. Of course my Iroc and my late Miata were and are a lot more complicated to work on, but it makes it more enjoyable.

Totally Agreed :) The lose of torque will eventually get you in the corners

If the turbo spools up more quickly he'll Have More torque, earlier in his rev band. And Yes ,you can find a decent exhaust system at a low price. Or if you know what you're doing you can BUILD ONE. Really, it's not THAT hard guys.

If you get a smaller sized turbo it will spool up faster and thus your right give you more torque, but still there is a certain RPM that you need to hit for it to go into effect. If you build it yourself, yeah it would be cheap. Most people though will just a muffler and attach it to their existing pipes or go out and do the whole header, cat-back exhaust. You gotta put into the equation the amount of people that actually work on their cars themselves.

Some people can do these things for themselves. He's talking about adding HP, not neccessarily Replacing the main componants of his engine. Adding a smaller turbo would probably kill the top-end punch also. Plus unless your car's gonna be a monster, a header for a turbo is a waste of time & money, not to mention a major pain to install!!

I forgot about the turbo with the exhaust part. I understand that he is adding HP, but I have a belief in the projects I undertake to do it rght and do it right the first time.

Besides, XenoN never really said whether he's gonna do the work or someone else is, did he??
The K&N and the muffler aren't too hard ,but the other stuff is. I'd install ALL OF IT , just for a ride in a REAL EVO-TME!!!!

I completely agree with you on that one! If you f-it up by doing a sh**y job..all your gonna get is disapointed, and a lot of mangled knuckles!! Been there , done that.

Yeah, when working with big equipment be careful. My neighbor cut his finger off on a table saw while cutting some wood, and his father got four of his fingers cut off when working on a Combine (those tractors that harvest wheat and have that big spinning think on the front). Now his son thinks he is next to lose some fingers ...

I than you all for the advices, you helped me alot, thnx
But I have another problem now. Yesterday I got an interesting offer. One person offered me a completely new (0km) Subaru impreza WRX STi '03. And I can still change my mind and go for the subaru instead of the EVO ... I'm very confused now and I need somebody to help me decide...
So now I have two options:

1. EVO VI TME ( not new but in condition like new, 15 000 km)
2. Eruopean version of 2003 Impreza WRX STi (completely new, 0 km, with guarantee...)

What car would you choose and WHY?
I'm so confused... Any help would be appreciated...

that is a tough decision. A new '03 WRX STI can be fun and a little work you can get that up to the EVO performance, I'd say the WRX

If the price is right...grab it while you can!

If it had 300hp like the USA version I wouldn't even consider of buying EVO:D
I'm from Europe... unfortunately here STI's are sold only with 265hp :banghead:

umm guys, the US version doesn't have 300hp, actually we don't even have the STI, we have the plain WRX, it has 227hp. Along with that, torque is another thing it doesn't have a ton of. The fact that it is a boxer layout, you really have two good cyclinders doing most of the work with a single turbo layout. the problems lies with I think cyclinder 1 and 3 being close to the turbo and 2 and 4 on the other side of the engine. 1 and 3 pull hard through the turbo giving you the punch. The exhaust fumes getting pulled from 2 and 4 are secondary and not as much of a kick. The car almost sounds like a 3 cyclinder

:embarrassed: :D oops, my mistake. I was wrong on the HP #s.
You definately need as much torque as you can get with those AWD cars, He's right about that!! BTW, the STI is supposed to be sold here in the next year or so. Also I didn't realize that the European STI had LESS HP than the one slated for the U.S.

But you WILL have 04' STI in USA and yours STI will have better performance than european one which we already have :( :banghead:

US version:
- 2.5L Semi-Closed Deck Block Boxer Engine w/ AVCS
- 300HP at 6,000RPM
- 300Lb-Ft at 4,000RPM

European version:
- 2.0L four-cam 'boxer'
- 265HP at 6,000 RPM
- 253Lb-Ft at 4,000 RPM

:banghead:

If only that STI was the US version...You lucky bastards...:D

That is 2004, but I think what was being discussed was a 2003 WRX sti which does not exist in the states unless you pay ungodly amounts of money. That is at least here in America
