Need for Speed 2014

There is online, but it's a ghost town nowadays. SP mode is longer than MW 2012 (at least if you're not going for all mods on all cars) and less repetitive, so it's a win in my book. There's free roam as well, but it's more of an afterthought because of the game design of initiating races from a menu. The game world is also bigger than MW, but less "interactive" (no jumps, less traffic, less shortcuts). No car customization except paint. Police is more aggressive than MW which is good. Overall, both of them represent different types of NFS games. Whereas MW is Burnout Paradise with real cars, HP is a throwback to the old PS1 era exotic NFS. IMO you can't go wrong with getting HP 2010 (I imagine it's dirt cheap by now as well).

Rivals is quite similar to HP as well, but it suffers badly from lack of polish and glitches, so I'd stay away from it.

Undercover is total crap, so I'd stay away from that as well.

I never played The Run, but from reviews and gameplay vids I get the impression that it's crap as well. Just watch the NFS Movie and you get the same thing.

I played Shift 1, but the physics was so bad I did not even consider Shift 2. Better wait for PCARS (same developer, but without EA's terrible influence).

The run is actually fun, though i hate it that they just mirrored and reversed a few tracks and call them different tracks on different cities. But i like the simple and arcade stuff about it. Engine sounds are awesome (M3 GTS ).

I'd say give it a try, the handling is a bit awkward but still fun to just speed around the desert highways.

There's the problem. I'm very sensitive to physics issues so if it's awkward it's just gonna throw off my enjoyment of the game, no matter how good all other aspects of the game is. And from watching gameplay videos, I can tell that the handling is really, really bad.

Fair enough. Visually the game is appealing though, the saturations are great compared to the recent NFS. I guess that's why i can look pass the awkward physics.

True. The Frostbite engine in The Run and Rivals looks absolutely gorgeous, which is why I find it's such a shame that the rest of the game isn't up to scratch. I'm a gameplay > graphics person so there's no way I can look past the handling deficiencies. Oh well, hopefully the next NFS will be good in both since they're taking quite a while developing it (and I'm not counting No Limits).

I'm usually a gameplay person rather than graphics too. Don't know why its the other way around for The Run lol

So it looks like Ghost Games is expanding their studio locations...
Ghost Games Romania to collaborate with Guildford and Gothenburg on future Need For Speeds?

Need For Speed developer Ghost Games has formed a new team in Bucharest, Romania, the studio's website has revealed.

The website now lists three Ghost Games studios - Gothenburg, Guildford and Bucharest - with each team expected to be collaborating on future Need For Speed titles.

What isn't clear, however, is whether EA has transformed its existing Romanian office into a Ghost studio, or whether it has simply formed a new Ghost team within the same building. VideoGamer.com has contacted EA for further clarification.

Ghost Games opened in 2011 under the name EA Gothenburg before going on to release its first game 'Need For Speed Rivals' two years later.

Burnout developer Criterion also splintered off to form a UK-based Ghost studio in 2013, with its remaining employees going on to work on a new extreme sports open world racer.

A new Need For Speed title from Ghost is expected to release later this year.

UPDATE 27/03: In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, EA confirmed that "Ghost Games main studio is in Gothenburg, with teams also in Guildford and Bucharest".

Shouldn't we be getting some news about the new NFS around this point in time anyways?
