Taking in to account it's not a new game that's just come out. Probably hardly anyone plays online. I just want a new car game. Is this game worth £11.99?

Personally, no. The physics are awful, you have to turn half a second before you would normally. This after trawling the internet for controller set ups.

On PC: great game. On PS3: not so great game (because of aforementioned lag, which is not present on PC).

For me, yes. I use PS3 if there is any lag I haven't noticed it. None of my friends who play various racing games on various hardware have ever complained of lag on my PS3 version of S2U

The main thing is that it drives very, very different from GT5. It actually takes a fair bit of practice before you feel competent.

There are a number of nasty bugs, these mostly affect the faster cars.

For actual racing - especially in low to mid powered cars, it is fantastic! If you want something you can turn on, and leap into a competetive quick race (offline) it is great.

Well worth £12

I suggest you rent it first.

I wouldn't recommend it for PS3 unless you were paying less than £10 for it. There's lots of bugs in the game as mentioned before and I've got a nasty bug where my custom liveries for cars keep screwing up if I use the rotate tool. :ouch: It's enjoyable for a couple of days though and if you've got friends who have played it before, you can have fun trying to beat their laptimes in Autolog.

I say yeah its a good game if you like fiction a Lamborghini aventador does a top speed of 217 mph but on need for speed it does 207 mph and that's with all pro mods plus I had to use nitrous to get that high otherwise it goes 195 mph if your lucky :(

I had the same thoughts as the OP a few weeks back, the game was cheap, it claims it's a sim, or at least sim-like, so why not try it?

I played for about an hour and did not enjoy myself. The cars seemed floaty and the graphics (while not the most important thing) seemed off, hard to describe.

Time is much better spent playing Forza 4, Forza Horizon, and GT5 if you are looking for a sim, or NFS:HP if you are looking for a arcade racer. F1 2012 is decent as well, although it's only F1 and it's still new so no breaks on price.

regardless of what you do, there are plenty of other choices out there for racing fans.

I hated it at first. Then, after learning to tune cars in GT5, I started tuning properly in Shift 2 - I was able to dial out the twitchiness and steering issues. I also messed around with the controller sensitivity settings for the DS3 controller which improved the game no end. The AI more than make up for the flaws in the game. Great close racing!

Sorry just realised that my previous post is in wrong thread was supposed to be in need for speed most wanted thread :S

I just picked up this game last week.
Took some time to get used to it and get the right G25 settings (found on this forum), but now I like it :)
It's not as good looking as GT5 and cars don't handle that well, but it has one mayor thing I was looking for: excitement! And it has. A lot!
I play on medium, cause I find hard a little... ehr... hard sometimes ;)

Hmm, that's weird it never told me this thread was getting posts. Oh well. Just read the posts, seems like its about 90% don't get it. 10% do. Maybe I'll see if a friend has it first that I can borrow and see then. May be worth it then.

Get it. It's worth the coin, now that it's not that expensive... it's a very good pick :)

Agreed zuperkiwi, this game has lots of excitement, close racing, and action... you just need time to get used to the physics... it's very, VERY frustrating at the beginning... but after a while, you get your reward :)

Are you talking about the console or PC version? If its the latter, there are mods which help with the floaty feeling and unlock some DLC cars which were never released, also the Speedhunters and Legends packs are free. If you can get it on PC I'd say that's definitely the better version.

I had Shift 1 for PS3 and I know what to expect, weird physics, bugs and stuff.
My only doubt (a big one) is about the FREEZING issue. I've heard freezes happens while lapping Nordschleife in fast cars. If so I'll skip that part, I'll skip liveries as well as I know it has bugs. I don't care about online either.

So, here's the deal: I'll skip everything not career related that could cause freezes, BUT can I complete career mode without facing the FREEZING thing? I'm not Iceman like Kimi Raikkonen you know.

I prefer Shift. Shift 2 didn't seem to have the same feel overall like Shift. Shift 2 is worth it if you like to transform street cars into race cars.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Just for the record I did buy Shift 1 & 2, along side Most wanted for £45. Never had a proper chance to play 2&MW as shortly after my PS3 YLOD. May bring it out Friday though. 👍
