Need help choosing a wheel stand/rig

A friend of mine recently gave me his old Logitech Momo wheel to get me started on sim racing. Needless to say... I've been bitten. The problem is my current seating. I run my PC off of a 42 inch TV and thus don't have a desk to mount the wheel on. Normally I just pull out a little card table and unfold it when I want to play a game closer to the TV, and it works fine for a mouse and keyboard. But with the force feedback from the wheel, the card table shakes far too much. Plus, that with an office chair and the pedals sliding on carpet makes for a fairly distracting experience (even though it's still a lot of fun).

So I want something more stable. I don't have a ton of money though, so I need something under $200 (especially because I want to invest in a G27 in the near future as well :P ). But if I can, I also really want one with a built in seat. Is there anything that fits the bill for me? I've been browsing around, but haven't found what I'm looking for yet. Since mounts with seats seem to be more expensive, is there a wheel and pedal mount that I can then add a seat to later on when funds are greater?

EDIT: Should note, I only need to mount the wheel, pedals, and an H-shifter eventually. No screens or keyboards or anything. Nice and simple :)

I use a Wheelstand Pro with a Logitech DFGT wheel and sit on my sofa or a chair and find that perfect and the seating position is a good replication of the cars and vans that I drive daily in real life.

Some friends have the same stand, but use an old, real car seat from a breakers yard - You can pick these up for about £25 and they will be a lot more comfortable than the sort of nylon race seat that comes with most cheap rigs. Avoid leather seats from top end cars as they are incredibly heavy as they are full of electric motors for seat adjustment - front passenger car seats from breakers are often almost completely unworn - especially if they are from a van.

Just an idea that might fit the bill if you are on a budget!

I actually could get my hands on an old seat for a DIY job. I could get a stand like you mentioned and then make my own mount for the seat. It'd probably be easy to attach the two if I ever wanted. Good suggestion!

I originally ran a G25 and then a G27 on a wheelstand pro. It folds nicely if you are really short on space. Then I moved onto a T500rs which as anyone will tell you has ferocious FFB which the WSP just wasn't holding that steady (bear in mind my WSP was the slightly weaker V1 not the V2).

I bought a GT Omega Wheelstand Pro and it is fantastic. The twin spar design compared to the centre pole of the WSP means your legs don't get caught. Its just that much more freedom of movement. Very nice and stable design and can take the pounding of the T500. Also the shifter mount options are far superior to the WSP and its is foldable and can be expanded into a full rig later if you ever feel like going up from there.

Its showing as out of stock on the GT Omega site at the moment and I'm not sure of the Momos fittings but drop Leo a mail in GT and he's really good with the info. It'll come in under $200 all in for the stand and mounts with shipping from Scotland.

This is mine with a couple of Music stands as keyboard and tablet holders attached. I also use it to mount my Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog on if your into flight sims.

Another stand to look at is the next level racing as it has had some solid reviews.

I'm currently looking myself and pulled between the 2 stands or going for the full GT Omega ART rig.

So I think I figured out a solution. I'm gonna build one! I was browsing around through what you guys suggested and ran across this:

It's made with 2 inch ABS or PVC pipe and is apparently very solid. I'm going to make one or two small mods so I can use it for some future plans and mount the pedals GT style, but it should only be around $70 or $80 to build. The trick will be finding a seat, since a new racing seat is $200 for the cheapo version. Anyone know where I could source one?

But yeah, all said, I'm going to go ahead and order a G27 to build the frame around. Once I find a seat within my price, it should only take an even to put it together.

Now to clear space in my apartment :P

A real car seat should be cheaper and more comfortable (and probably less sweaty!) than a racing seat - they need them in racing cars because of the G force during cornering, but they aren't necessary for gaming.

I use a T500RS mounted on a Wheelstand Pro - I find it perfect for my needs (it is the correct version for the wheel). The shifter mount creates a gearshift position like a Transit van - on the dash and not to hand in a natural place so I built a leather upholstered module for the shifter to match the sofa.
