Sorry its a RUF (Porsche) the drive-train is RR which i love. Gotta find one in the used lot.

I am better at driving FR or AWD. A RR drivetrain would take some serious driving changes for me. The MR cars I can drive but not great yet. I will keep a look out for the RGT'00 in the used car though. I like to keep my options open and always need cars for B-Spec.

Yah my best FR car is deff the RX-7 FD. For AWD deff the '89 R32 skyline which you can get at the used dealer.

Since you're looking for awd, what about the Lancia Stratos 1985 rally car that you can win from (I think) the historic racing car cup? I am at work so I can't be sure on the HP on it, but I think it's around 400ish, pre add on, and is quite light (850 kg or so, is what is sticking in my head) so it's quick and turns pretty well, and it has front and rear aerodynamics for you to play with.

Are you sure it is a 1985? From this list https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=134047 that it is a 1977 and the base hp (from https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=144551&highlight=stratos+bhp) is only 246bhp and that it is MR not AWD. Now all of this could be wrong - I don't really know. I do know that I am not close to being able to compete in the Historic Race.

Yes, I was just looking through the win list and saw I put the wrong one. You win the 1977 one that's MR from the historic race and the one I am thinking of from the Gallardo race.

Trofeo Gallardo: Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car '85 (S)

That's what I get for going from memory!
Sorry about that.

LOL, thanks for the info. I do appreciate it. I won't be running those races anytime soon that I know of. I am still in Amateur races in B-Spec and just started into the Pro races of A-Spec. I need to concentrate on creating these race cars and not the ones for the A/B spec races.

If only I could quit work and play video games all day - that would be a blast for a while (until they turned off my power and kicked me out of my house)...

I got a toyota altezza the other day from the used car dealership for 40k, it had 300bhp but with an oil change and a stage 3 turbo its 398bhp. The 9500rpm is insane and driving it was a dream and its 1000kg!

The 111R RM is even more of a beast. I think it gets around 320 HP when fully broken in... it tears cars up on any track with a straightaway anywhere less than about 1/2 mile?

If you end up picking up one of the Elise's and RM-ing it, perform the racing modification BEFORE doing any other mods to it. It doesn't make sense to buy upgrades that it's going to have to re-buy for the RM.

And don't forget to oil change when you first get in.

The RM-ed NSX 91 is also a beast. Lion's Den Performance has a GREAT tune for the NSX RM on page 5. It has 422 HP broken in, so maybe you get a sport intake and exhaust to lower it a little. (Don't forget that you can remove any mod and/or downgrade but rigidity, engine staging, and weight changing.

I am almost positive your purchased mods didn't get thrown away so to speak.

I did an Evo IX, modded it then went and RM'd it. When I did the RM, all my HP went gone. I was like WAIT A MINUTE! Then looked in my items/briefcase deal and all purchased parts were there. Reinstall and I was making good power again.

I am almost sure this was the way it happened.....the game is huge, I got lots of time logged, so I may be off.

Cars like Elise and such is all about using the abundance in grip in the corners. With it tuned to 300+ bhp you shouldn't have problem keeping up with the cars on the straight if they are also limited to less than 400....should be a win-win scenario....

Short wheelbase though might get hairy, careful with that throttle...

Exactly my thoughts on the Elise. You will have to do some serious practice and learn to throttle that car. If you touch the grass under throttle your toast. If they impose a weight limit which most ppl do you will be screwed because that car is way light. You need to have 2 cars one just won't cut it. I run a RM NSX in the 400hp class and I prefer the shorter wheelbase cars over it. EVO or STI would be my choice if you like 4wd, RX7 for FR. A real sleeper is the Toyota concept ft-86. It is light, handles great and fully tuned it is right where you need to have it.

Yes but I am horrible at tuning cars. So do you have a good tune for the Toyota concept FT-86 as I do have that car in my garage. I do plan on building a STI or EVO with race modifications to have as well.

I believe the Elise will be to light for me - I am not the best driver which is why I like AWD cars. I bought and I am playing around with the Lotus Evora - so far I like the car, just not sure it will be enough to compete. Still trying to tune it since I haven't found a tune/setup for it.

To touch base on my previous post. I did this to my New Camaro and it did indeed remove all parts when RM'd. However they was still there.

What I did notice and worthy of remembering.

If you plan to RM'd a car, do not spend money on Suspension, Trans.....only spend money on HP mods and tires. When you do RM conversion you get the good trans, suspension and like. :) SAVE YOU SOME MONEY!!!!

Another vote for the Caterham.

Also, if you can find a Ford RS200, slap some racing tires on it, bump the power, drop the weight, and tune the suspension/transmission for a total track beat. Mid-engined, 4WD, and light but it needs sticky tires to keep it planted. I have one with 401HP if you want to trade.

Caterham - where can I buy that car? I haven't seen it (or missed it) in the new car dealerships.

I'll keep an eye out for a Ford RS200 in the user car dealership. I don't really have anything to trade.

I have bought a Lotus Evora and have been desperately trying to find a tune that will allow it to handle better (this post: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=4351952#post4351952). My B-Spec Bob can easily win the Lightweight Pro Races with it, but I have a hard time driving it.

I tuned it back down to 399bhp and I hope I can finish a good tune so I can use it for the races if not, then I will move on the building a RX-7, RX-8, Impreza with Race Mod, Acura NSX or some other car.

The G-Sports FT-86 is, along with the Evora, the best car not RM'ed with under 400hp. The G-Sports FT-86 is 1000kg STOCK. It is wonderful, the handling is predictable, the engine is responsive, if you increase power just increase tire grip. It's awesome. I'll share my tune of the Evora later on!

Well, I am racing in Nurburgring usually.. I have the Amuse S2000 R1 Titan.. It is 443 hp fully tuned and its performance is beyond amazing.. I did 7:03 and I have the BMW M3 GTR which is 575hp and it did 6:53 .. not bad right? well, This Amuse S2000 has A great performance.

do a 87 GNx stage two turbo with stage 2 engine modifications... should stick to the round nice and will keep you ahead of the pack on straight aways.

GNX 87 will be very heavy, try the TVR Griffith 500 you can max it at 496hp still you can ignore some of the modifications weight will be much less than the GNX

Suzuki GSXR/4 is fun and should give the elise a run fot the money.
fully tuned 283bhp and 588kg, will pull 180 mph (no draft)
Simples.

I was pretty happy to do 7:05 in my rm 111r today. About 305ish hp. I think I can break 7min in it.

agree.. I have the Amuse R1 Titan which got 443 hp amd I have the S2000 LM Racecar which got 360's but it's fast.. I ususally do Nurburgring and it's all good. It's just hard to find in used car but I bought it right away when I saw it.

Caterham is fast enough in the straights, it depends on the track. In the real world a car with 250bhp that only weighs 400kg is just going to demolish your average 400bhp, not sure how it is in game as i've not tested it, but i can confirm the caterham is a very nippy car. The RX-7 Spirit R is a very nice car, i tuned it to do 222mph down a straight, and it will do more. The speed it achieves for its power level is higher than most cars, at 400bhp it should do the nurburgring in under 7minutes (it did in GT4).

Either Autobacs ARTA Garaiya or the RE Amemiya Asparadrink RX-7. They're both Super GT GT300 (300hp or less) race cars with full racecar downforce settings. I own the Garaiya and it can be upgraded to around 500hp, with the upgrades being stage 3 permanent engine, and stage 2 and 3 turbos. With either the stage 3 engine or stage 3 turbo you will be around 400hp. I would imagine the RX-7 has similar options.

The Garaiya is MR and the RX-7 FR of course. I tested both and found the Garaiya had far better cockpit visibility and appeal if you like using cockpit view like I do. However the RX-7 has a 787B wankel style idle noise which is great as well. Either way these 2 cars are far better than any road car you can buy at the same horsepower, with a possible exception of a RM car (only because I haven't driven one). They're both 500k credits, but worth every last one.

The Gran Turismo Altezza touring car can be picked up for about 30k at used car lot. Do the upgrades and it spits out about 399hp (with mid turbo if i remember correctly, a little more with high) and it rides the track tight and fast. Keep the engine and chassis restore up regularly (cheap to do since it's low price used) and the default settings and it handles better than most any other race car in the game.

I will see if I can find it. Do you remember the weight of the car? With everyone being at 400hp, weight becomes and issue.

I know this sounds stupid but i tuned a clio v6 for fun, and its pretty good. Top speed is around 175-180, lightened it to stage 2. Done a few power upgrades and it has around 360hp i can get exact but that would have to be tommorow. It is great though the corners as i had racing(hard) tires on it. :)

Another vote for the Elise 111R RM. It's also a great car for endurance races because it is so light and therefore gets better fuel mileage than most other cars.
