Hello all!

Just wanted to ask for a spare 5 minutes, if you have any, to help me out on this quick bit.

Was basically wondering what kind of music genre this song was:

Referring to mainly the bit between 0:30-1:30.

I'm going to assume it's some dance music or trance or something, but this is the kind of music that I love to tune to when I'm driving on the freeway or driving for long periods of time throughout the night. Although I really could listen to this music at any given time.

Was just quickly wondering whether anyone else knows what kind albums/bands might interest me if I'm looking into this kind of music?

In the past I'd tune my radio to Cruise FM which was a radio station playing this kind of music for people spending long time on the road in their cars. Unfortunately it's only within Holland and Belgium that I could tune into this station.

I can tell you that, Deadmau5 plays electronica-, progressive house-,
electro house- and trance music. You might want also to look at the dance (and maybe club) genre, for similar tracks. Similar artists could be something like, Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren.

The song you posted would qualify under the sub genre of Progressive House music. Also, I Remember is my favorite song of all time!

You should really look into more of Deadmau5' content. He is extremely talented. Most songs you can find on iTunes, but songs like "Jaded" and "Untrust" can only be found on YouTube or his Soundcloud page here: http://bit.ly/UjdgM7

I would like to borrow this thread to ask for help myself.

Would it be Drum & Bass? I love the style of the bass but I really am not sure.

First track sounds like old DnB/Breaks. Second one is tricky, but it sounds similar to some Downtempo IDM I've heard from the 90s, so I wouldn't say it was DnB. The final one is certainly DnB though.

The second one is the one I want to find a genre for the most. It's one of the most unique sounding tracks I've ever listened to. :indiff:

Thanks for the confirmation on the other 2 though.

My best bet for the second one would be "Industrial". Also, I'm not sure if I would call the first one DnB. It's more jungle IMO. The third one is also definitely Jungle. Not that it's much different from DnB, of course.

I dunno. It doesn't really have that much of an Industrial feel to it, at least to me. It just sounds like an oriental theme with accompanying drums. It does fit under the Electronica genre of course, but that encompasses a wide range of different styles. I think most of us would label the second track differently if we were asked what we thought is was.

Also, I wasn't sure whether the first one could be considered Jungle, but at first I did. I kept making edits after my previous post since I wasn't certain, although Jungle/Breaks would be a better fit. The last one is DnB. But such a song can be labeled as Jungle as well, or both. Such differences are negligible though. Other tracks I listen to that have virtually the same drum pattern were labeled either DnB or Jungle, I noticed.

Yeah, the third track has pretty obvious use of the Amen Break sample though, which would usually be labeled as Jungle. As far as I know, at least.

Note: when it doesn't really fit into any other genre, call it "Industrial" or "Future Garage."

My tastes in music are a bit strange, but, if it doesn't fit into dubstep, chillstep, DnB, or rock, it's always "Industrial" or "Future Garage."
