hey everyone, me and my friend are doing some challanges, last week we had a tough one with 50k to spend etc etc....

but for this week, our new challenge is, well there is no money limit, and i can choose any production car, so only the ones at the dealers. i can use everything except NOS, and no aids... And yeah we are using all the real circuits. So i need you help people. There are so many cars out there, what is the best car to choose? and what would be a good setup for it too? I am good with doing gear ratios, but im not good with limited slip, so i will need some help in that. Should i choose the AWD car? or RWD? hmmm, well thanks to and for everyone for some advice. :)

I know there are soms lists out there with the power and power to weight ratios of all fully tuned cars. Those could be a start.
I can't find them now, though....sorry :guilty:

Back in my GT2 days, I had a housemate who discovered I was into racing and after that we were dueling at least once a day. :)

We did everything from Accord Wagon races to kei cars to muscle cars...but our ultimate rides were the Dodge Viper GTS I bought from the dealer and threw a race-kit on. His ultimate ride was one of the JGTC Skylines. He just could not control a Viper no matter how he tried, but when we were up against each other (him 4wd, me FR) we had some balanced racing. :)

I say go with whatever you can smoke your friend in. :sly: Let him try and keep up!

Hmm, Speed 12 anyone? SLR McLaren? They'd both smoke a Viper. As for controlling the beasts, well that's a different matter!

Tommy Kiara ZZII unsurprisingly with this being a japanese game PD couldn't help tipping the favors into the hands of the japanese car, ignore what you know of other cars, this one always appears to come out on top. famine did a B-spec list off all the cars in the game somewhere find it and you will have all the information on cars you need. The Caddilac Cien turned out to be the fastest road car but that is a concept, I would strongly advise the Tommy Kiara.

Pagani Zonda, light, accels pretty good, tire-wear efficient and fuel efficient as well, but if you dont do corners correctly, be prepared to face understeer ( if i'm correct).

The SLR Mclaren is a good choice for long straights, but it's one hella heavy car.

Acura NSX?

Jaguar XJ220? I stopped driving this car after GT2, dont know why...

VW V12 Concept..

What i would NOT recommend, Viper, Porsche, GT-40,speed 12... Understeer problems...

You can always check if they are production car by bringing the car into a production car only event. If they permit, then its a production car.

The Porsche? do you mean the RUF cars?

Anyways, I think you should use the Pescarolo car (newer, faster one) or the Audi R8 for race car events and the Audi Le Mans Quattro as another choice for a road car event.

Don't use the Saleen S7 on technical circuits.

For settings I say (correct me if I am wrong):
  • All horsepower enhancing parts.
  • Tyres- (All racing) Soft tyres- 7 laps max, medium tyres- 14 laps max, hard tyres- 20 laps max (On average for all).
  • Downforce- Front high amount, Rear low amount (technical circuits).
  • LSD, ASM, TCS, VCS- (Not sure)
  • All weight reductions done, No rigidity.
  • Last of each thing in Transmission section.
  • Suspension- Fully customisable- Low ride height, stiffen springs by 2 (not sure about the rest).
  • Brakes- Racing, Controller- Bias the brakes slightly to the front.
That's the best I can do without knowing your car.

hmm the Zonda sounds good. whats the Japanese super car? Tommy Kaira ZZII '00 is that a good car too? my brother told me its like a Japanese Ferrari and that when its gear ratio tunned it can go around 200mph

and we are racing at our own places. after we are done with lap times we post the times to each other... or post a video on youtube.

i was thinking about Ford GT as well, but i rember that car when its very lightly tunned it was great, but when i went medium to full tuned, it was one of the most horrible things i drove :P

oh yeh this are my first 2 videos of our last challenge (1st race)... i know i am not the best driver around but i did win :P

linky 1

linky 2

oh yeh, i will try posting more videos of the new race by end of the week with more awesome techno/trance songs :P

and one more thing, anyone knows how can i do the limited slip? and how does it really works? thanks

hey i was just wondering about this car, i will go with this one, can i buy it or can i win it?

It is 500,000Cr. Quite expensive, but it seriously shifts, the handling on it is really good, you don't have to fight to control it.
If you want I can PM my setup for the car aswell.

hey that be great thanks, that way i dont have to play with all the setups

I will PM you it now.
[edit] do you know what track you will be racing at, it will give me a better idea of what the best set-up is.

I am in the middle of a racing series and therefor cannot quit to check the setup for the ZZ-2
Try this, it is Ducks setup, it looks a good one to me, although I would recommend where it say's don't mess around with the transmission, personally I would, I you tell me the track, I can recommend what you should go for on the auto slider.

hope this helps.

Also, as well as the track, other information like: Tire wear on/off, nitrous oxide allowed/ not allowed

Why does Duck add turbo four to all his Group C/GTP/Prototypes and like, not ever touch the transmission?? (On the ones I've seen)

I know he's highly respected around here, but I can't think of anyone seriously into the game who'd actually want to race with these kinds of settings unless it was for their b spec bob... which is not to say I could do better, just... To me, lumping on a honking great turbo isn't tuning a racing car at all...

This isn't a gripe, I was just wondering if there was more to it?

You're right, Hypnotoad. I don't know what's behind it either, but it sure isn't the way to go. For beating the AI stock transmissions will do though, so maybe that's it. Personally I always "build" my own close ratio gearbox, works a lot better for me.

This guy wants to win, why not add large turbo? my main issue is with the tyre choice, if it is a race with no tyre wear, then without doubt go for the racing super softs, do not go for sports tyres, a car that powerful will not perform at all on sports, whatever the compound.

[edit] ^For the above same here, I always have a tinker with the gearing, I tend to go for the shortest gearing possible.

I just figured someone who played GT that much would rather win without plomping Tsar under the bonnet. :P

The idea of tuning racing cars goes beyond turbos and extra power, it's maxxing the potential of its already apocalyptic power... Tuner cars are for that. ;)

But like I said, that's not me claiming my approach is superior, it's just... different.
