I have an Intel NUC, NUC8i3BEK2, and whatever I try I can't get surround sound out of the thing.
I have it connected through HDMI to my tv and the tv is connected to the amp via coaxial cable. I also have an audio extractor that I can hook up to the hdmi cable and then optical to the amp but the results stay the same, only stereo sound.
I am currently running Win10 just to keep it as simple as possible, is there anyone who can point me in the proper direction to see if this apparatus can actually pump out 5.1 at all?

Following this up to step 8 and then open a surround sound file in Media Player Classic I do get surround, although the back left and right are switched but eh. So the device can actually produce surround. But I can not get Windows or Linux to accept the fact that I have a surround system hooked up to the device.
