Hi, its my first time requiring some help with a tune @ gtplanet.

I'm using a Civic FD2 Type R in a tournament that we organized with some friends. The rules are Racing Medium or Hard Tyres, 390hp, everything off except ABS, real fuel and tyres consuption, heavy damages, and real grip.

My general tune is this:

All the upgrades you can afford but limiting the HP with the power limiter.
Power limiter at 92.3%

Gears: Max Speed 310 kmh
LSD : 10 - 40 - 20
Downforce: Depending the track.
Suspension:
FRONT REAR
Ride Height -20 -20
Spring Rate 9.0 4.7
Extension 7 5
Compressio 6 4
Anti-Roll 3 4
Camber 1.7 1.5
Toe -0.20 0.10

BRAKES: 5 - 10

The problem is that we run races of about 1 hs, so trying to keep the grip at the tyres is the main strategy, i usually use Medium Racing Tyres. But i can last so long as the others drivers with medium. And the other issue is that the car has an annoying understeer. We raced in Deep Forest, Monza, La Sarthe, Grand Valley Speedway, Cape Ring, getting an average of 4th place. And finishing the races 30 second away from the first.

When we are one on one, i sense that the others are killing me at curves and tyre endurance. But there isnt difference between skills, so its no driver problem jaja

Any tips? I've used all the tunes for the Civic from https://sites.google.com/site/gt5tune/

First ever post and you've done everything right. I think I am going to cry. :D:tup:

Your LSD seems to be at default. I would start there and see if you can make some improvement. How specifically I am not sure but I'm sure others will chime in with ideas. I assume you are killing the fronts faster? Or are they wearing evenly?

This is so true! 👍
Good boy!

@OP
Sorry, I've no time to really help you atm, maybe later.

But try following:
LSD - try something like 5/35/5-10

Front a bit higher than rear, by 1-5 I guess.
Bars by 1 or maybe 2 higher (I simply like stiff bars)
Try negative rear toe, as example -0.15; could probably work with a very small amount of positive front toe like 0.05.

But hey, I've never tuned nor seriously driven a Civic, I could be terribly wrong.

The tune looks good (I'd have to try it to make sure), but LSD and throttle control is a good place to start. Try 12/18/8 for the LSD, and try not to mash the gas in and around corners. I hope that helps a little... I'll see if I can help more later :dopey:

After work, i'll apply all your suggestions:

Actuallly i'm racing using Dual Shock because i have more sensivity with the throttle than the driving force gt. For example with that set up my best time at deep forest was 1.17.810, la sarthe 4.22.100.

The next races are, nurburgring GP/F, Trial Mountain, The Green Hell at night. So it will be plenty of hard corners.

If you're understeering, I'd put Initial and Braking at 5, and Accel around 15-20 or so.

This is Usually my starting point for any FF car. On an Integra with lots of power you don't want too much initial and accel using those tires. I think there is too much rear toe as well. Start at 0 rear toe and increase or decrease according to how the car feels and how the tires are wearing.

Another option

Go to Photo Finish Racing's page and read the writeup about suspension and how they affect your car. CSL has made it so easy to adjust your suspension settings to better what your experiencing on track.

You can also go to Motor City Tunes and you will get an extensive writeup about the LSD. He also has some started lsd settings for FF and all other drivetrains.

This has been very helpful to me and understanding tuning a car especially when your on a different track and have to make adjustments to fit the track.

Most important, document any changes you make and the result so you can reference.

Last night, i've used what you said about LSD, and mixed differents tunes. Now the car, in my opinion ,has less understeer, but i lost some cornering speed. Today i will give it a try with ABS Off, and more LSD adjustment. At home i will post the new setup, Nurburgring GP/F @ 2.08.600.

The single most important thing to do in a race with tire wear, driving FF's,(or 4wd) is remove all traces of under-steer.

As you become comfortable with the new-handling car without under-steer, the lap times will drop to much lower than ever could be obtained with the under-steer, along with improved tire wear.
On a RWD it's less significant, because many of them can wear the rears much easier, on FF's, the front are all that matter.
