Hey,

Don't really know where to begin. Its for Engineering Studies and its to be about a research report on the history and technological developments of the motor vehicle.

I have an essay on electric cars from last semester that could get you started. If that's the route you're going for...

Well the first thing I would do is search for famous classical cars. Then search for the cars that had the first ever [insert new technology here] .

To start you off, search for one of the first cars ever produced on a mass scale for example or start with the first car that had ABS.

The best place to start would probably with the invention of the internal combustion engine and it's eventual application into "horseless carriages" as they were originally known. Then, as MSTER232, talk about revolutionary cars, manufacturers and designers such as Karl Benz, Gottleib Daimler, Henry Ford, the Model T, the VW Beetle etc.

Is there any requirement to post sales numbers and the rise and fall of specific manufacturers?

Just a hint, the invention of the modern petroleum based internal combustion system is a revolutionary step. It is what made the car possible. Steam powered cars and electric cars before that were motor vehicles as well, but they were not practical. Internal combustion engine made vehicles practical.

Also. Model T and the assembly line, and the mechanization of cavalry and military hardware, and electric starter, and tires.

And that's just the beginning.

Shouldn't you be studying mate rather than asking for help since these courses will want a source for your info as i do not think GTP classes as a credible source.

Suspension has changed quite dramaticly over the last 100 years. You could get a good timeline on the evelution of those parts. Or chassis construction could be equally talked about.
