Hi everyone, bit of a dummy when it comes to video editing and im staring to get a little frustrated with my lack of skill & knowledge.

My problem is I cant seem to get the right video size (Dont know the right term) for uploading onto youtube.

I am using the Hauppage HD PVR to record my footage onto my Windows PC in 1080i, then editing my footage using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. ( Is there a better program for editing?)

I need to know the right presets or settings for exporting before I upload it onto youtube.

Because at the moment when I upload it to youtube to best video quality is 480P, which is very poor.

Heres an example:

As you can see my video only takes up around 50% of the available screen and I need help.

I have uploaded unedited footage from GT5 straight from the PVR and I have no problems. Its only when I edit the footage I cant seem to get the same quality I began with.

If anyone can help me understand a little bit more or knows where I'm going wrong it would be very appreciated.

Many thanks Jack

The video editor is making it into a 4:3 480P video and then changing it to widescreen(16:9), thus making it only fill 50% of the screen. I don't have any experience with that adobe program but you got a video input or video output problem(check the settings).

I have the Hauppauge as well and I've found that the quality is much better if you don't fuss with 1080i and just go with 720p. 1080i made the files a ton bigger and caused weird interlacing problems on youtube but the quality isn't much better so nowadays I only capture in 720p.

For editing I use Sony Vegas and for rendering I use Vegas' preset for 6 mbps HD 720-30p video. The file comes out as .wmv and this is certainly not the best setting for youtube, but I'm as clueless about these things as you are so I've just stuck with it once I saw it was working.

The quality is decent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exZfRPU0LZM
