Remember those songs from GT4? The remixes of the Commodores, James Brown, and Earth, Wind & Fire? Those were some of my favorite songs of the game.
Now, I'm looking to find similar music, but I'm running into some problems. For one thing, I can't find anything about this "Pop Rox" anywhere, not on Discogs or anything, though in the GT4 credits, Pop Rox is credited as the remixer of those songs.
Failing to find anything by that artist in particular, I'm looking for remixes of funk/soul songs with a similar feel to these songs. It would help if I knew what genre they fall into. Obviously they're funk, but that doesn't seem to be enough to find remixes. Many remixes tend to be more house or hip hop, which aren't always bad, but not exactly what I'm looking for. Is it breakbeat I'm looking for?
Finally, just to make things more difficult, I'm ideally looking for songs that were created before GT4 came out, so before 2005. However, I'm certainly willing to accept songs that came out after that, as well as any advice on identifying the style of these songs so I can look for similar music on my own.
Any help is appreciated. Just for kicks, here's a song I did manage to find that's similar to what I have in mind, though it was produced after 2005.
