Hi,

I have been trying to get a podium finish with the Modern A invitational using a loaner Mclaren. The track is Nurburgring.

After about 20-30 attempts, I can't seem to make it. I was SO close the last time running in second place until the last turns after the long straight away. The bastard behind me bumped me off and I spun out finishing 5th...

After that, I needed a break.

Any ideas on how to beat the competition? The Mclaren seems to be a slower car compared to the rest of the pack as I can't make up time on the straights.

The loaner car is un-tunable, so I can't make any adjustments.

Thanks.:)

Look at it this was... you're earning money having fun... ok, maybe its not that fun.

Get the last place a couple of times so the lower their skills and give your best after that.

I had trouble doing that one too and the only way its to keep trying... :(

Does the AI make adjustments according to my "driving" skill?!?

I did not know that! That's pretty impressive.

You're right, I am earning a few bucks and having fun white-knuckling those turns on Nurburgring. It is very intense, one slip up and the others cars take advantage quickly.

Last place here I come!

To be honest, I rarely even notice them adjusting. Then again I never tried to be slow on purpose. :D

I find it way harder to survive the first few corners than to win the race altogether. There are some points where you can overtake quite easily because the AI breaks much harder than needed. Like in the slight kink before Bergwerk or the whole part between the Caroussel and the long straight.

I don't know what difficulty level you have or what your settings are, but I wanted the prize car so badly, I switched to novice, turned on the steering assist, turned off the braking assist and bashed the competition. After the first few turns, everyone was in the rear view mirror. For some reason, the stock MP4 12C is incredibly unstable compared to the other supercars. Don't know why this is the case. It was an absolute pleasure to drive in Shift 1.

Practice on Nordschleife in Quick Race mode with a car that is faster and has a higher PI than the McLaren MP4-12C like one of the Pagani's.

Set the competition to Identical Car, 15 opponents.

Once you can beat the AI in Quick Race you should be able to do same in the Invitational.

Turn off damage too because their is a known bug that causes the engine to blow in some instances.

At least thats what worked for me.

I'm pretty sure that if you keep restarting the race the AI progressively gets worse and worse!
I remember hearing that somewhere on here!
I just kept restarting because I found out if you don't pass the AI on the first couple of turns it'll be almost impossible to win the race!
So I just kept restarting and I did notice the AI messed up more and more. :)
Eventually the AI up front had a spin out causing the other cars to get stuck behind it. I just cut the track to pass them all up and I maintained first going at my own pace, blocking and swerving whenever a car tried to pass me up. 👍
Yes it is a very dirty and bad way to win, but after so many attempts I just couldn't take it anymore! I Would do anything to win! :scared:

Just restarting wont do it... That's why I finish the races with the bonus effect of practising earning some money :)

Cutting the track usually ends up in the time and finish position not counting.

And even if you're last its still possible to win. There's a video from early days of someone in modern A invitational staying last on purpose on the start and winning it...

Not for everybody but still...

Yeah it is tough when you are trust into it the first time; with me it took 5 attempts to get a podium, a further 3 attempts to get a win. For me in total a lot of practice, and mostly fun to make it happen.

I say "stick with it" the tough track will improve your driving skills, and improve your chances of more podiums as you play.

After several more attempts, I still can't make the podium. I've tried finishing in last place a few times before attempting a run at the podium, but it seems like the AI is just as fast. They have been completing the course in 7:37, while my best is 7:48. Not good enough for a podium....

Oh well, I'll keep on trying....

Dude sorry but 7:48 is just not good enough... I had to achieve a 7:19 for my win in that race (if I remember correctly it was quite close) and I m still nowhere near the fastest in my Autolog.

Keep trying!

Me too and I could achieve it! :D Dont give up... Took me at least 30 - 50 restarts as well. Hard racing game is hard!

Edit: Btw, I m strugglin hard at the Ring too. The Enduro Championship is soooo freaking hard if you pick a GT3 car! The Gallardo is too hard to control, the R8s rear end is too loose so I tried it with the Team NfS Z4 but that is too slow on the straights. Goddamn! I stopped after the 50th try (noted them all) and I seriously think the AI is completely mental in this race. GT1 aswell, actually. They are so overly agressive, its hard to even finish 1 lap without getting shunted, rammed off the track, spun out and straight up hunted down. At least they are not only agressive against the player, 7 (!) of my races ended prematurely after I hit an AI car that was spun out by other AI cars or when I crashed trying to avoid those. Team NfS RX8s and 911 Cup GTRs are the worst, like schoolyard bullies. :(

I had a really good time with the Ring Endurance Championship!
I tried soooo many time with my GT1 Murcielago but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't win because that Maserati would just blow past me on the straights!
One race there were 4 Maseratis in one race!
I took 5th using all my strength to try to keep up with them until the straights!
I gave up and just took the BMW Z4, what a PLEASURE to drive.
Took 1st around the 3rd lap. I love that car!
Only thing is the hood seems a little funky! It's kinda hard to see over, and blocks a lot of your view especially if there is a downhill part to a track! :scared:

I did 7:18 a few days ago and still couldn't be in 1st place. That Veyron passed me like I was in reverse :( on the long straight.

Why games must have that POS in beyond my comprehension.

Because its the fastest and most prestegious car in the world, no matter if you like it personally or not! :D

Now what I dont get about the Veyron is why I m only 5th in the hotlap at Ambush all of a sudden! :indiff:
