Need to enter Alfa GTA cup. How to get Sprint GTA?

It's kind of like a job interview, can't hire you without experience, but can't get experience without getting hired.

I recently started playing again after 5 years off in preparation for GT5. I'm at 96.4% complete, going for 100%, this is one of the things that held me up when I stopped playing back then.

I know you win a Sprint GTA by winning the cup, but I can't enter the cup without having one first, and you can't just go buy it at Alfa. WTF?

Maybe the answer is stupid obvious and I'm just missing something, but I give up.

It's called the GTA cup, not the Sprint GTA cup... Perhaps there's another Alfa GTA that is eligible.

See which cars are lined up there?
One of them you can buy, one of them you can't.

I guess when I think GTA I think of the classic, which is one of my favorite cars of all time. Just never associated the new cars... Thanks guys.

Yeah, I thought I had posted on here once or twice back in the day, but I guess not. I'm not a heavy poster on any forums, but I'll probably be somewhat active once GT5 is in the picture. Stoked!
