Netscape or MSIE??

I used to only use Netscape, but they no longer have Quicktime Support, and one thing I like to do is view movie trailers from www.quicktime.com, and IGN.com (.mov), and off of RPGamer (some .mov files) So IE is my choice these days.
 
IE, i only dont like netscape because sometimes it doesnt display webpages correctly and they look crapped out... and lets face it, most websites are made to be viewed in it....
 
IE for me. :D I've got Internet Explorer 6.

Not as many things work on Netscape as IE. eg - many html and java applets.
 
IE all the way! Netscape loads pages too slow and it crashes more then IE, especially with CPU intensive pages (flash, javascript).
 
I had it on my PC once, don't know how it got there, and I deleted it. I never used it because we had IE and didn't know how to use it (set it up and stuff like that).
 
If you upgrade to IE6, when you get an error and your browser closes, you sometimes gives you an option to send an error report to Microsoft. Well, at least mine does that.
 
Netscape Navigator is actually a really good browser ... just not in Windows. Actually the core components are called Mozilla, and run quite well under the UNIXes (Linux, Solaris, BSD ...).

The reason why Internet Explorer is the dominating browser is because it's integrated into the Windows operating system. Basically, it's running all the time because it runs your computer. Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are gradually becoming the same thing. It's so freaking fast because it's always running, and there is close to zero load time. Just a half second to draw a window and download some files from a website.

Here's a good example. Double click on "My Computer" and type in a web address in the address bar. It should just open the web page right there in that window. Tada! No difference.

Another option that rarely ever gets mentioned is Opera http://www.opera.com/ . Opera is probably the most efficient and accurate web browser of any I've seen - including the 10 to 15 different web browsers for Linux. They've written it for Windows, Mac OS, OS X, Linux, and BeOS. It ports to any other UNIX style OS super easy, and is by far the best browser available for cross platform compatability. But you fellas don't really care about that stuff, do you ...

I use IE6 pretty much everywhere. There is a lot more to it than some simple feature addons from IE5. Starting with, it has a whole plethra of more security, but at the same time it is more "Microsoft Centric", meaning that it's slowly moving away from W3C compliant html standards. This, ladies and gentlemen, is not good for the web.

Support the freedom of OUR Internet Web - at least give Netscape Navigator and Opera a try, you might just like what you see (:

I had Opera for a while - it is a nice quick little browser, but I had a lot of trouble with secured sites with it.

They might not have implemented the higher encryption yet. As far as I know, they've gotten it up to par with the rest of the browsers.

Part of me wants AOL to buy Opera as well (they currently own Netscape [the company, not just the browser Navigator]), so they can throw a lot of money at it. But I know they would just ruin it the same way they ruined Navigator.

Know what you mean - I used Netscape up until the last major update, but with the laptop I couldn't justify the hard disk space - plus it lost its major advantage over IE - stability.
 
I use IE 5.5 SP2. I should really investigate loading the other browsers onto my machine so I can test my web site on them, but I haven't got round to it yet!

BINGO. I use IE exclusively now, because of the integration. M$ is evil, yes, but they make a helluva product. Windows, Outlook, Office, Explorer. All connected and integrated. Ease of use is the name of the game!!!

I used to use Netscape Navigator only, but it couldn't keep up with the times. Pages were loading noticeably slower than IE, and I was having problems with Quicktime and Flash stuff. For me, IE works great.
 
Up till about '98 I only used Netscape, mainly because I'm Mac based and IE just wasn't Mac savvy enough then, too many conflicts. Since then IE (to my anti-MS horror) just came together and there really isn't a match at the moment.
 
I use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.2600.0000IS on a Intel Pentium III with 500mhz with 262783k of RAM on Microsoft Windows 98. 4.10.2222 A with a Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64 Video Card with 32mb of Ram and a Creative Sound Blaster Live SoundCard with ??mb of Ram with an ASUS CDW 3212A which runs at 32 X 12 X 40 and a PC that has a temperature of 34 Degrees Celcius.

I'm sure I could add more goobledee goook but I won't.
 
Other: Mozilla. Lightyears ahead of IE. Open source too! Got to mozilla.com and download it now. Version 1.0 RC1.

I especially like the themes and tabbed internet browsing. Sure saves a lot of memory if you browse multiple sites simultaneously.

If you don't have it, get it now, it's worth the small download.
