Never ending test strip.

There should be a never ending test strip for the max speed test, Since the turns on the test track do slow you down a considerable amount.

Too bumpy.

They need something like Volkswagen's Ehra-Lessien track. The straightaway is five miles long, perfectly straight, perfectly level. Significantly longer than the straights on the Test Track, even the Bugatti was able to get up to speed and hold it.

I don't think the track needs to be "endless", but it could definitely stand to be longer. Keep the banks about the same size they are now, but extend the straights by about two or three more miles.

They also need to add stuff to the side of the track, and maybe make the track narrower. It's too wide and too plain, there's very little sense of speed, even at 250mph+. On LeSarthe, you get a much better sense of speed, even at sub-200, because it's narrower and has all those trees and buildings and stuff right next to the track.

Or they could make an endless straight like in Enthusia.Could possible hit 10000mp/h on the straight. And why would you want to make a narrower track? It makes you nervous and make you crash!

A narrow track would give the illusion of speed, think about the tunnel at the test track, that is 1Km long though it appears to be really short, this is because it is a really wide track.

You'd be driving in a straight line... how would you crash? You'd have to turn the car to do that. Besides, it's a game.. nervousness doesn't really play into it.

I personally wish a test track looking like the one back in GT2 in GT5 just with a straight 4 or 5 times longer and with lighter turns, but as narrow as the old one with trees and street markings.
In fact I want it as narrow as a normal street, just perfectly flat so that you can see and feel how fast you are going. Its just boring to get over 250 mph and you feel like you not moving at all, the ''free like the wind'' race - which is actually a very cool race- was so extremely boring because of that.:indiff:

I also wish that PD adds cars to the ''free like the wind'' -race which are tuned for high speed only (Low downforce & wide gearbox, low ride height) so that you get a great challenge with all cars going around 400 km/h and two different races for tuned road cars and race cars.👍

Or you can just break out of Seattle, El Capitan, Cote D' Azur, Laguna Seca, or the Nurburgring.

How about a chart that shows shift points, top speed in each gear, and top speed with wind resistance? Wouldn't need a test course if they had a chart similar to the one in Drag Racer V3.

1) People prefer action to figures, although it would save a bit of time.

2) breaking out is much, much harder in slower cars

3) breaking out is no use when testing max speed, as there is no speed measure, just player judgment and the speedometer isn't entirely accurate.

I can break out the 'Ring in a 120HP car, as well as El Capitan. Has to do with car's length rather than speed, but breaking out El Capitan would let your car go much faster.

600HP Audi Pikes Peak Quattro with Ratios - 323MPH
425HP Dodge Charger with Ratios - 316MPH
320HP Mitsubishi Lancer with Ratios - 242MPH
The Charger can almost keep up with the Pikes Peak, due to less wind resistance, and higher weight I guess, since when you go on a hill outside the board, guess what? The game programs it as still going down a hill, even on a level and flat surface. You also would be driving on invisible dirt with visible dust. :dunce:

But if we had a never ending test strip, we would constantly come closer to engine wear, due to the high mileage it would give, since I'm sure some people like me would put a Toothpick on the X button and leave it at that. It all depends on what the driver thinks I guess. :)

All GT5 needs are proper banking physics. If the cars actually turned at all with the banks then the corner speeds on the test track would be considerably higher.

That's what I was thinking. As useless as the Ocean Bridge is, it's still neat, and useful for finding the top speeds of cars (taking Döttinger Hohe in reverse is second-best). I once took a Lvl.10 E30 M3 there, leaned a shoe against the analog stick, and let the car chug away at 180mph for about a half-hour (not bad for a naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder), just to see if the scenery or anything would change at all. When I came back, it hadn't, but the car had eventually inched itself over against the wall.

Very true, actually. Same reason why cars understeer more than they should at the Karussell on the 'Ring.

-> Hmm...lets see:

1. Ehra-Lessien Test Track by VW in Deuchland
2. Bonneville Salt Flats Raceway in US of A
3. Nardo High Speed Track in Italia
4. A closed section of the Autobahn in Germania
5. Polyphony Digital's GT1/GT2 Test Track
6. I-15 North/South bound Highway (between Primm to Las Vegas, NV) in Americaland

^ I think this is turning out to be a track wish list thread guy. :indiff:

BT-> I could imagine a never-ending track, but without the scenery and that sense of speed AND the "butt dyno". I think that would be pointless, as I can relate the sensation in GT3/GT4's test track, on which it bores me after a couple of laps and the car was unable to cough up the top speed. :indiff:

-> The sensation of being in GT1/GT2's test track was a lot more rewarding (and challenging) experience. I was testing every car in GT2 for top speed back then. (:

Why? We've already got the Test Circuit, and while it's not the most entertaining track in the game, it would certainly beat something without corners. Besides, once you get to a certain speed in any car, you cannot physically go any faster. So unless you're looking to have supersonic cars like Thrust SSC in GT5, there's no point.

some times in gt4 i felt certain cars woud have made a couple of exta mph if left to run for more distance and also the corners have the psycological effect of sayin if thhey wernt there i could have maxed out higher. If its for top speed the test track should be straight,ie VW test track besides if its good enought for the veyron, its good enough for me!

"We've already got the Test Circuit, and while it's not the most entertaining track in the game, it would certainly beat something without corners."

It has nothing to do with entertainment. Normally when people talk about going max speed they dont intend on running into corners.

"Besides, once you get to a certain speed in any car, you cannot physically go any faster."

The point people are making is that some cars could go faster if it weren't for the corners in Test Course, which is true.

I think either that Audi course which looks somewhat narrow enough for a video game, or the Salt Flats.

I still think there should be a "Draft Speed" option where there is a faster track car in front of you and you just draft him to your top speed.
