I'll be very surprised if it's anything remotely close to the level of a PS4 Pro or Xb1x.

My guess would be something more along the lines of OUYA. :P

From the comments made he said it will have 'PC technology' and they are 'back' ..we will have to wait and see which end of the market they are aiming for..my guess is HD arcade games to fill the gap of MSR/PGR/NFS/Burnout not the fun/Wii side of things. I do feel looking at the video, the atari box looks like 'high quality materials' ...But it is nice to see atari back in the game and I look forward to more info on it. 👍

:eek::eek::eek:👍👍👍
Wow....I never thought I'd see the day! It must fill at least a little different niche than Xbox or PS. And it doesn't seem portable, and probably not going to go directly against Nintendo anyway. Love the wood grain like my old 2600! They definitely have my interest:D. I could see it being like an arcade-y experience like you said, @torque99.

I think it will likely tank if they are going after anything other than a niche market like the ZX Spectrum reimagining.

Ouya, On Live, Steam Box and many other challengers that have come along over the years promising the world and didn't really dominate.

The market is hardly big enough for 3 console players. But fair play if they are going to give it a go.

Atari isn't really Atari anymore, it's just a brand name that has been bought and sold for years now. My take on this is the current owner of the Atari name wants to make a push into the console market using the Atari brand name. It will need games, games , games to survive, hopefully some exclusives too. I don't see this going anywhere and the Jaguar was a colossal failure, but I hope for the sake of gaming that it turns out well for them. Another competitor in the console market is good for consumers.

They should make it PC compatible and mid range specs. It's going to be hard to get a foot in the door with how current consoles are inbedded into our brains. I think this way they give food for thought and offer something different.
