Hi everyone,

I was wondering if all of the bases were covered by our current competitions and my conclusion was yes, every angle is covered. But as i thought on i remembered a game i used to play with my mates when we played sensible soccer, EA hockey etc etc...Winner stays on.

Now i was trying to imagine if that format would work for a new competition and i guess it could but of course i wanted to ask you lot to share your ideas on it. It's not set in stone, it may not work and as of this point it's just a thought.

It would work along the lines of a the head to head competitions where two people submit pictures and then we all vote on the best, the winner stays on and faces a new challenger and so on.

So say the winner Stays on comp#1 starts and it is open for 1 weeks registration, everyone who wants to take part gives in their name, the entries are then closed to stop too many people taking part and then a random head to head challenge is selected, winner stays on and challenges another entrant and so on then after everyone has had a go we open up the comp again and more names can be entered.

Special badges are awarded (maybe placed in the comps OP) next to the winners names with how many victories they have, sort of like a league table maybe?

Hmm...no idea if it's even worth considering but i think the initial concept is cool.

What do you all think?

Sounds good. I'd give it a go.👍
(What if no-one knew whose entry was who's - pic against pic - would probably need an impartial referee to manage it though...just a thought)

This is a awesome idea. I'd be a judge as I am rubbish at editing, but I know a good shot when I see one.

Sounds awesome for a change. I would give it a shot too.
And I agree with Giulietta, an impartial judge, and the hidden identities of participants will be a necessity.
And perhaps to make it more dramatic, we could have a poker sort of system. Like To participate, both contestants need to put, say, a car in the pot ( which in this case will be a person holding on to the cars obviously), and whoever wins, takes away everything in the pot.
As he/she progresses, the winner of the previous round should put in more items like paint chips and the like along with a car into the pot. That way the stakes increase as you level up.
Like I said, dramatic lol.

Yeah, the identity of the contestants would definitely need to stay a secret. Maybe the loser of the last round could post the pics on their behalf?

Also the poker style would be good, but I think you would need more than one judge, to be able to send the two cars in one day.

Yeah i think the secret identity thing would work well.

I was thinking about themes of course, that way the head to head starts on an even footing with both people trying to get the same type of shot, that way it will limit someone going crazy and editing a master piece in order to win

Lee, your idea sounds similar to this. Is it not?
not really mate, that one, from what i can gather is one person takes a shot and the other edits it. I was just thinking of a shot v shot, which one wins kind of thing.

I was thinking of the people just PM'ing me or whoever so i can keep it all secret, or another trusted member perhaps.

What about, We open up the head to head slots for 15 people (first come first served) and two are randomly chose to fight it out with a given theme, say, Drifting for instance...

They PM me or whatever with their pics and i post them with all identity hidden, a poll decides who wins and if Guy #2 wins he then stays on and challenges another, of course his identity is now known but the new challenger is a secret and another theme battle ensues and so on.

It'll be a lot of work but if it's a welcome idea and it'll take off then why not give it a test run?

Just a thought!

👍

Really Lee, I think you should quit keeping it a thought and set things in motion, judging from the feedback so far!
I for one am pretty sure everyone will love it . It does seem like it will be hardwork but, take in a few more ideas, and here's hoping you get it started. . Go for it man!

Indeed, why not simply start a training round and learn about the odds and ends… I think the idea is worth it!!👍

It sounds like it could be good, maybe I'm not reading it properly but one issue I see is if it's 1vs1 and one of the entrants doesn't make time for an entry on their week then isn't that a week missed as no one else would have a shot prepared and if the winner of previous weeks was on a role they'd be forced to give up their streak of they couldn't make time for an entry?

I know there's always the option of submitting an old entry but that might help remove annonimity from the comp :/.

I don't want it to sound like participating is a chore btw I just mean stuff in life might make it difficult to find time as I have lately lol.

Sounds interesting, i'd be in for this. Still sounds like it needs some defining though. So if the winner stays on how is the next challenger selected? And who sets the theme for each round?

That's one of the problems i've thought of too. yeah, life gets in the way and the only way around it would be to either wait for the people to get their entries in or maybe if they can't, give the place to someone else.

I think the only way it would work would be for one of us to just pick the contestants at random?

Theme wise, Maybe when the initial rush for people to reserve their place they can also through in a theme, that way we'll have them before we start.

That could work. 👍

I've been doing some more thinking on this, I really like the 1vs1 idea that the tournaments offer but how do we stop people from going in a huff when they draw any Ilya or DarkR(sorry still don't know your name man, I wanna say Kevin). As a person that enjoys a good huff this concerns me:D

After viewing for a while, I am interested to see where this competition will go. 👍

Well if anyone is really worried about losing then surely they shouldn't enter! If you enter you should have some faith in yourself and anyway, being challenged by the big guns on here you may end up winning and win often and it may inspire people to push themselves...who knows!

Sounds like a great idea Lee 👍

Enough motivation for me lets do it:tup:

For the poll, if you are not wanting to participate, then don't bother voting. 💡

Concerning non-entries, maybe the impartial party taking the entries can send a quick status check PM mid-week to see if both entrants will submit by the deadline. If no, or they don't hear from one or both, another person is selected to take part in the week, which would obviously need quick confirmation.

I like the "secret santa"-like poll. Sort of like the tournament you know, in this case, one of the entrants but not which is their entry. Don't know how much the poker pot would motivate (I don't care much about cars or such as I can get them easily enough) but if that works for everyone else I'm game.

Waiting to see this start! :D:tup:

I think it'd still be worth a shot. I like the idea of a H2H challenge. Would be fun I reckon.

Digitalbaka's comments regarding mid week checks could work as he mentions though a speedy reply would be important. Which you can't always guarantee.

Ultimately the finer points of this may not be able to be completely sorted before hand and could be refined as we get into it perhaps.

yeah i guess it is, very similar apart from it's not a knockout format. The winner stays on and challenges someone else. It may not hapen, it's just an idea.

Neither does in this. I think the idea was more of a league, where the winner goes up and the loser goes down the ladder, or something similar.

I think it would be a great idea. ;)

Who would you go to in order to authenticate this competition, Lee? Slipz or...?
