New DLC Free Car and Update 2.02

Good. I don't need any more enemies.

Remember this brother? I've got no problems with your opinions, and even agree with you sometimes. However, sometimes I feel you get carried away over the small things. Merry Christmas!
That wasn't a opinion I think, I was just saying that it was a duplicate thread, then I got called a moron and a whiny *****. Either way it got too far out of hand. I admit I get very argumentative sometimes, though there are people that are worse than me-I recently had a big argument through PMs with KB18FAN, and I think that he made a big deal out of nothing. I'd like to get a list of everybody I've become enemies with, and how it became that way. It would probably be a mile long. Either way I am what I am. :indiff: Merry Christmas!

You may have gotten used to it, but I haven't. That's why your not bothered, but of course, I am.
OK.

Im assuming that since they took the standard cars from GT4, they will take the wheel selection from GT4, which would be awesome but It could be something different. Hopefully turbo sounds are improved within the update on racing sound effects. :D

Here’s a complete listing of all the new changes coming in GT5 2.02:

Users can now change wheels on Standard cars

These new cars will also be available as DLC for $3.99:

2011 Mini Cooper S
2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R
2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R
2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35.

Once somebody knows for sure, please let me know whether buying the DLC means that you can buy these cars from the NCD across all accounts on the same PS3.

Should be able to now. They're not making that mistake again, or they'd never hear the end of it. :P

I'm not sure if you can buy them in the Dealership, but I think the "and starting next week, new purchases will not have the restriction in place" bit from the press release means that this DLC will be across accounts as well as the first pack.

Think about it. We can use DLC 1 across accounts because Kaz got ripped a new one on Twitter. So they are "fixing" that error. And you're worried they will do that same crap with DLC 2?

Not really, but I'd rather make sure this time.

Finally, anyone who purchased the first batch of DLC will receive a free “Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP” along with five free “New Car Refresh” cards that reset any car in the game back to as-new condition, without losing any modifications that have been performed to it.

And am I reading this right?

You think only fanboys will buy it? What about just fans? I'm still pretty sure way more non-"fanboys" will purchase this DLC then you think.

I'm a big GT5 fan and bought all the DLC from last month. I definitely would NOT pay for a Golf, Mini, Scirocco and another GT-R. I would've paid for say the Camaro ZL1, Lotus Exige S, Shelby GT500, more tuner cars or even GT Classics like the FTO LM, Tommykaira Skyline, TRD Supra and RX-7 GT-C.

That said, I'm glad we'll finally be able to swap wheels on Standard cars.

I'm assuming those do the same thing the Chassis/Engine refresh does in GT Auto.

These seem to be different from the coupons mentioned, which do Chassis/Engine refresh. To me, "as-new condition" means "as-new", which doesn't necessarily apply to a Chassis/Engine refresh.

That said, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think it may be a zero-mile reset (or some functional equivalent). If it is (only if it is, so no one take this as anything other than a guess) that may mean that PD will be introducing the capability to remove previously-unremovable parts (chassis stiffening, NA tuneup, etc.) to restore a car to stock.

I've always figured the chassis/engine refresh did just that?

I hardly ever use them anyway...

After a certain amount of miles, a chassis/engine refresh doesn't restore the car to quite its former glory, so it's never going to be "as-new" ever again. And the cards are called “New Car Refresh” cards, so if it's just a chassis/engine refresh, it would be a tad misleading.

That's the first thing I thought of. A 0-mile reset, and maybe a 0-switch reset as well. And then I was asking myself whether that means that I can get 5 UCD cars and turn them into 0/0/0 cars? And then I was wondering whether these cards are tradable. Yeah, yeah, I know, stop speculating.

I will buy this DLC.

Hey things cost money.

Eventhough the update is free the people that worked on it have to be payed.
And I'm wondereing howmuch of the DLC money does realy reach PD.
My geuss is that $ony is getting the bigger part.

Ofcource I was expecting more (original tracks)

The complained that the cars will be in GT6 anyway is also not valid.
It is common practice in the gaming industry as it seems.
Acticision/ infinity ward charge $3 for maps that have been in older COD games.

But everyone can decide for themselfs if they are buying the DLC.

Are you kidding me?

Sorry, don't mean to pick on you, but the first batch of DLC was a joke, nothing worth buying at all, these cars are all good.

Golf R, nuff said, Scirroco R and Mini Cooper S are both great hot hatch additions also, and the GT-R will be fantastic.

Compared to the joke they released last time, 'new' NASCARs when all NASCAR rules remained virtually/ unchanged, so every car is identical just with different colours, so that doesn't count.

Nor does paint items, or racing helmets and suits, go karts, well, they should be free, not worth paying for.

So what do we have left? 2 courses, ok, not bad, but they are $2.5 each, which is well, not worth it imo (especially since one is a kart track). And every other car there is a touring car, which I don't see the appeal of at all, they aren't normal cars so you can't use them on the seasonal events, what are they good for? Yes, $8 12 cars seems good, but they were all already included in the game, they've just painted and tweaked them a bit.

So in summary, its logical not to buy the 2nd batch of DLC if you don't like any of the cars, but I just don't see 4 NEW street cars for $4 being less valuable than 12 touring cars for $8.

May I just point out that before the list of updates it says. "this is a few examples of what is included in the update" so there may be more stuff (being able to buy multiple dlc cars from the dealer one you have unlocked them.)

[snip]

I guess in the end it all comes down to personal preference, doesn't it?

so dissapointed with PD about the dlc :( ...at least add 1 or 2 really great cars to the pack to make it exciting eg: a supercar or older classic.

and no tracks :embarrassed: that surprised me considering its a christmas update.

We have two, 100%, freshly modeled cars coming to GT5 (1 DLC and 1 Free update car). I am more than happy whether the cars are my cup of tea or not.

Not too bothered about the Mini, I mean there are 2 new Mini Cooper S anyway. Personally, I'd have preferred a JCW, Coupe or classic Mini.

Glad we are finally seeing a MkVI Golf and a Scirocco though.

The GT-R, meh, but the Toyota...

Wheels on standard cars and improved racing sounds without any cost is above and beyond as a christmas update in my opinion..
