New Features for GT5

Well I've been looking around for info on what new features are already on and going to/ may be on GT5 and since there are SO many threads about it all I'm not sure if I have missed anything or confused something with something else or whatever. So I decided to make this thread (if that's ok with you, Mods).

Basicly my question is what new features are deffinetly going to be on GT5 and features that rumours have grown about? Please don't mention features you would LIKE to see, or, if you do, make sure you make it clear that it hasn't been confirmed and that you just want it to be there, just to keep it from getting too confusing :).

I think that's all i wanted to say.. lol :dunce:

EDIT: Oh and how much more realistic is the driving on the game?

Ta.

From PD themselves:

- Damage is confirmed for GT5, and might appear this year in GT5:P

- Changing weather is on their roadmap

As for how realistic the driving is I'd say its alot more realistic if you are talking about GT5:P.

One of the most realistic touches I've seen is that the Nissan GTR drives like it has AIDS turned one when you turn them off because in real life computers help control the car at all times

But some of the cars need tuning to handle properly, and I'm not sayng the game doesn't model the cars right, it's just that some cars need certain suspension adjustments like they would have in real life to handle well.

Others like the Ferrari F40 have serious weight balance issues that no setup can cure

yeap

Wrong. The GTR runs faster in the game and in real life with ALL AIDS TURNED OFF. The GTR isnt controlled by a computer any more than a regular car is except for its advanced AWD systems. The computer which controls the GTR's AWD is sealed and cannot be tuned yet to my knowledge (probably will be tunable in the future with a full standalone engine management?) The point is yes GTR has TCS in real life but it can be turned off in real life just like in the game, turning off the TCS doesn't make the GTR loose all the things that make it fast in the game or in real life.

If you mean serious weight balance issues as in its a MR platform? Ever hear of that term?;)

OK, how?

I never said it didn't.

Is that an oxymoron? You say computers don't play any bigger part in the GTR then a regular car, but in the same system you mention it's advanced 4 wheel drive system which is run by a computer.

OK, but how was I wrong?

Hahahaha...👎

All mid engine cars do not drive the same. Some are built/balanced better then others.

I haven't driven all the cars in GT5:P, but I can tell you 2 of the worst handling cars in the game are the Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F512bb, and the reason is most likely their age. They were probably great sports cars for their time, but the technology that goes into making these cars has improved and today's supercars, like the F-60, are far more balanced and handle better

Watch Jackie Stewart's impression of a bad handling MR car, which reminds me of how the F40 handles

Here's the list of features from 2007:

1. All cars and tracks of GT4 will be in GT5 - not too sure about this one (re: to "all")
2. more cars and tracks should be downloadable - probably
3. 4 driving views - we already have the cockpit view now.
4. damages for the race cars - supposedly on the way on the fall update
5. All Ferrari + F1 - we have finally have Fezzas!!!
6. new city tracks - Madrid has been confirmed
7. online drivers : 12 to 20 - We're currently against 16
8. changing weather during race - planned somewhere down the line...Hopefully by fall also?

I'd say that PD is doing a better job on delivering on its promises this time around...at least so far.

KY himself said in an interview that there will be about 200 to 300 cars in GT5, so not all the cars of GT4 will make it in GT5. It's too difficult to model all the GT4 cars in GT5, KY said!

You have a link to that full interview? The last one I read just said that 500-600 cars was impossible. I definitely want to read any updates on this.

Yes I agree that there's no way we're going to get all the cars, but there's still a chance that we'll get all the tracks from GT4 + several new ones. I remember Indianapolis being mentioned around that time also, but I haven't heard about it since...

Is there really a toyota fj45 lowboy concept or toyota fj40's/fj45's/troopies. I couldn't imagine racing one of those. someone please let me know.

I just saw an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi on a Dutch website. KY was at the Zandvoort track in Holland and he said that this track could make in gran turismo one day.

He also said that damage will be in GT5 prologue because the European market asked for it. I think the whole world would like to have damage.

And he also talked about a Ferrari 330 P4!

http://www.insidegamer.nl/playstation3/granturismo5prologue/videos/6951 It's in Japanese with Dutch undertitles.

Can someone who speaks either Japanese or Dutch translate that? Pretty please?
I did, I wrote down the most important things except for the online functions.

They want to implement a lot online stuff by fall this year. The funcionality will be expand with a community where players can communicate amongst each other much better. Online and offline mode will be nicely waved into each other.

* Making a damage model will be a technical challenge, he said.
