I'm getting a new graphics card on Monday. It's a 64 MB GeForce4. Now all my games will run a hell of a lot faster.:D

If your spending 3-400 wait until September for the ATI 9700, it's going to be a major increase in power over any existing cards, and it will be the first to support directX9. (in other words, any card you get now won't support the new special effects in games next year.)

I'm not getting the G4 because it's for the Pentium 4 and I have an AMD Athlon.:( What I am getting is the AMD equivalent of the GForce4. Still 64 MB.

Oh my god! You know what? Some people shouldn't even bother with computers.

I totally agree with you :)

Maybe we should correct him, rather then make fun of his 1|)10Tness?

Maybe he's making the assumption that, well:

A superior GPU to match a superior CPU is as good as a inferior GPU matched with a inferior CPU. :D Come on guys.... ;)

No, we should let him suffer a little bit more. :D

Errr....thats actually comparable to a GF4 MX. Which really means it sucks.

I have a 128Mb GF4 Ti4200. If your on a budget go for the 64Mb GF4 Ti4200. In fact it runs faster then the 128Mb. I didn't get it because it had sold out but anyway.

And ATi and nVidia can run with both AMD and Intel.

I can't believe you got owned again!

Like Rossell said, a GF4 MX is about the same as your Radeon. Which sucks because a GF3 MX is faster than a GF4 MX. You could have bought a cheaper, faster card, but no, because you didn't research. You can't go out and buy any video card you see because it had a pretty box art or a really big number slapped on it.

I hate you km and your GF4! ;)

I want one sooo bad. :(

But, the GF4 ain't the bad boy any more, check out the Radeon 9700, almost double the speed of a GF4.

i have said this about radion before someware i have had one bad time with it and that is what made me buy my gf4

btw it's gf4 ti4600 is on sale for 599 it sells reg for 649.99 but future shop is giving u 5 bucks back plus a 45 buck mail in rebate but this in canada i don't know if u have one ware u are and it only goes to this wednsday comming up

RESURRECTION!

What's the word on the street now that the ATI Radion 9700 Pro is out? I'm seeing the Ti4600 priced at $400 (VisionTek ... $300 for the PNY) and the 9700 priced at $400. The only spec differances that are noted regularly are higher refresh rates at higher resolutions on the ATI.

Personally, I wouldn't mind ATI disapearing from the planet. NVidia has the 3D market in the bag, and Matrox has the dual-head and 2D market taken care of.

So what's the opinion these days?

Also ...

I'm told the NV30 will be coming out fairly soon. This is going to do two things. Kick the 3D market up a bracket in performance, and drop the price on the older stuff. Getting the current best at a better price is always a nice thing. But getting a newer card that will essentially have a longer life span is also a good thing.

Opinions on this?

:odd: That's like saying, "Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing lynix disapearing from the planet. Microsoft has the business app market in the bag, and Apple has the audio/video market taken care of.

Diversity in markets can only be a good thing to the consumer. It's competition between companies that drives the technology faster and harder than if they were relying on their own ambition to provide a better product because they felt like it....

Now if we lived in a different society where the untimate goal was to produce the best product available for everyone because we like our society, then yes....the companies should join resources to build the "ultimate" in technology for the average consumer.

On the Radeon 9700 revolution, it's only a matter of time before it's obsolete again, with nVidia on top once again, but look out, because ATI will be right behind them. ;)

Well, I'm a long time Nvidia user, but I must admit that ATI has the best image quality for the high end 3d cards. Plus they offer great features for video capture built right into the cards, in addition to TV tuners and TV out. My GF3 has the worst TV out I've ever had, even well below the quality of my old Diamond Stealth 3d.... :P
Matrox has the multiple monitor thing done fairly well, but they just can't compete technologically. They appear with a new card once every 2-3 generations and are generally behind the curve (or soon to be)
Same thing with S3 who have a new powerhouse card coming (maybe.)
My money is on Nvidia for the main market share, but my next card is going to be an ATI for the features. (and 3d performance since the 9700 stomps the competition)
