I've been thinking about this for awhile now, and I'm still quite unsure. I was thinking of a GTA:SA Race Series, like the Gran Turismo 4 one but on San Andreas.

What I'd do is make up a route (eg, Driving School in San Fierro to Grove Street in Los Santos) and then say which car to use (eg, Turismo)

You would be able to take any route you'd like and it wouldn't have to be clean (you can crash and go off-road) so it'd be funner than the GT4 Race Series (no offence).

You'd have to use a Stopwatch or something similar to time your run, then PM me the time. You will not need a replay unless your time is suspicious (can you do GTA Replays?) Also, unlike the GT4 Series, there will not be three divisions depending on your skill level, there willl be 1 Division only.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea, but remember to include that no cheats such as auto-airline etc, but maybe health cheat if you get too beat up?

Just got a tv card for christmas so I can record my runs :D

Oh yeah, I always do a health cheat in the street races.

Thanks for your feedback :)

No cheats. 👎
For this kind of race challenge (like my Chiliad Challenge) I think that the only permissible cheats should be things like vehicle spawn cheats so you don't have to waste time hunting down cars and driving them to the race start.

KM.

Blake, it would depend. Say it was a race such as 'Across San Fierro', that wouldn't be any cheats because it's a short race. But if it was 'Across San Fierro' then I'd allow the health cheat.

Uh?

Still, I think cheats are not cool. Damage is part of the game, and avoiding it is a part of the game. It’s a skill you have to learn to get around SA quickly… Using a cheat is cheating (duh?).

hitting things slows you down, all my top racing records are done hitting nothing.

Hitting nothing = no need for damage cheat.

But if your speeding through the countryside in a Turismo it can be quite hard

Anyway, does anyone esle like this idea because I'll put up Week 1 soon.

I'm game. But no health cheat IMO.

And if you can make a garage/Spray shop/ Mod shop near to the start line all the better. It would make things alot easier!

Start whenever. It all depends whether you want to have registration prior to starting. But with only one league I see little point.

Yeah, this sounds like fun.

I agree about the "no-cheats" too. Driving without taking damage or hitting things (especially traffic) is part of the skill of driving in San Andreas.

And preferrably with cars that are easier to find. (And motorcycles. :) )

Also, if Orion_SR did this, he'd have a field day. He's really good at finding routes. (Ie. his 1:56 and 2:04 in Bandito County.)

Sounds like fun - I'll give it a go.
I'd prefer no cheats as thats how I usually play.

I'd also suggest using known vehicle spawn points as starting positions. That way everyone will start in the exact same place, and with the exact same vehicle - without modifications.

For example, Bandito from its spawn on the west beach in San Fierro, finishing parked in the hut with the heat seaking RPG, on top of the hill southeast of El Quebrados.

I'm in. I only have the PC version at the moment, is it ok if I use that? I don't think there is any difference.

I'm very interested, wether I will be in or not will depend on the first round so George, make it a good one 👍
