So, I will be lurking around here until Christmas. The wife just bought me a PS 3 and Logitech G27 wheel. I will be playing pretty religiously after Christmas. I am just getting a feel for the community.

I found this site through a mobile app search in the Android market place.

I am a COO for an online fitness company. I have worked for companies like Apple, Google and ClearChannel before getting sick of large company corporate culture and leaving for a small start up.

I have played GT 1, 2, and 3. I picked it up when I was living in Japan and owned an old Austin Mini Cooper and a '00 Nissan Skyline GT-R34. So as you can imagine I will be rocking the Skylines in game again (and plotting convincing the wife why I need to buy a Skyline this summer in Japan and import it to the States.) I have been driving Toyotas since I came bad to the states and cannot wait to see (talk the wife into that if she won't let me get the Skyline) the -86 I also love German touring cars. So between kraut and rice I should have my plate pretty full for a while.

I am going to be custom building out my wheel rig. I have a Recaro Sporster CS seat already and am working on putting a blueprint together for the metal frame.

I have been dying to get this game since release, but I had to get the company in a place where I am not working 18 hours a day and can actually enjoy the game. :)

Welcome to our community here. Hope you enjoy it.

If you love Skyline's, this game is just perfect for you. :D

Anyyywayz, welcome to GTPlanet. ;)

Thanks guys. Any other resources that I should be researching as well? This is a fantastic site, any others with good info and a good community?

Other info, possibly. Other community, not so likely.

Welcome aboard. Enjoy some frankfurters and fried rice. :dopey:

So, is it considered "good form" or is it encouraged, in this community, to have the same user name here and in PSN for ID purposes?

I am not worried about any other game, I am getting the PS 3 for strictly this game series and the blue ray player.

Not really. I chose my name here because its my PSN name so I can remember it easily. Some don't have a PS3 so they have a random name, or they just like to have different names.

I'm not sure if you are allowed to import the R34 Skyline into the US yet...

Not really, but if you make one for GT only, name it GTP_MikeKyu or something similar.:)

I would be just as happy wih a 32 or a 33 ;-)

I personally prefer the 32 the best 👍.
Anyway welcome to GTPlanet. This website has great people while achieving a great balance of moderation.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here.

Yeah, even though I am not playing (YET, it's killin' me!!!) I am getting loads of great info. It seems that the community here is much better than I expected. It even has me excited about racing online, eventually.

Tank, I do like the 32 (and they are really cheap right now), especially the front clip of the car (even more with a TopSecret cowl). It's probably going to take 2 or 3 trips in the next year just to find "the right one" in "the right shape" for export/importing. I'll have loads of fun hunting with the brother-in-law though. He wants to take his motorcycle out for about a few days at a time(his kids still don't know that the bike in GrandMa's garage is his).

Hi, and welcome to GTP . On behalf of everyone here I wish you a pleasant browsing experience and hope you can find everything you’re looking for.

Regards.

Unofficial welcoming party.

Thanks all!

I saw my wife get a box from Logitech today....I cant believe that they send television remotes in such large boxes these days! :sly:

The wife is a bad liar I'm assuming then.

Welcome to :gtplanet:! Once you get playing make sure to check out the online racing. ;)

You bet. I am already salivating (more than usual). One question, how does the birthday ticket work? My birth uear only has a few cars, and none that really excite me. Do I set up my birthday in GT5 or is it my PSN birthday?

The birthday ticket will come on the birthday you signed up for the PSN account with. I got a bloody old banger!

Thanks Shem.

I think I may need to make myself a few years older to try to get to drive an old car that I've restored (twice), loved and deeply miss.

Welcome to GTPlanet. :)

What is the older car?

Sold it when I moved back to the US. I ended up givibg away the mini (it had an exhaust pipe made mostly of Georgia coffee cans and JB Weld.

The 1970 Cuda is the car I have rebuilt twice and sold (usually to support a massive life changing move across continents).

Yeppers. At least they are still out there running down the road for someone else to enjoy.

Well, at least it is giving me some leverage with getting a new toy! We'll see how this plays out, cause the wifey likes the look of the Toyobaru 86's (as do I).

You might be able to drive one on the game and in real life.

Those Toyobaru's do look pretty nice. Confusing with the myriad of different names though.
