New Photomode Tournament?

Well, all of us photomode hosts (well, me at least :D) have been talking about a new tournament over here. I think it would be nice to have a final tourney before GT5 comes out. I have been playing with this idea for a while, and I figured I'd start a thread to see if there's enough interest. So, what do you think?

i'm in, but what's the theme? maybe revive an old classic?
Scenery? Artistic? maybe even Photoshop/GIMP?

MinoltaMan89, Are you going to run the Tournament?

How many modes will be supported? Just PMC & [2.0], or will Open Edit be represented as well?

Would one be able to enter in each Division? IMO- You should be able to enter each division, if for no other reason to fill larger brackets.

Also, this tournament may be the last big event for GT4 Photomode, and should be done to a grand scale. With the eventual release of GT5 on the horizon, I'm sure most of the GT4 threads will start including GT5, and GT4 Photomode will most likely just disappear into the archives.

Just let me know if I can help out for this, whether it be banners, bracketed images, or whatever.

Good to see this Minoltaman :)

The Tournament is indeed a fantastic competition!!
Go ahead!! :)

I have PM'd NTX (the previous tournament hoster) and asked him for a theme list. I remember him saying he had a huge list of themes for tournaments.

I will host it. I'm thinking only PmC and 2.0, but if there is enough interest, we will have an open edit division too. Just like before, you will be able to enter both divisions-PmC will come first, then 2.0.

Guys, if you are going to enter, tell me which side(s) (edit rules) you want to be on. I will need banners and suggestions as for how you want the tournament to work. We have limited time before GT5 comes out, so let's get cracking!

Yeah, but the main thing I was talking about was this kind of "banner":

I guess we could use the basic layout, but the names would have to be changed.

I may have a good drift banner, but if you want to, you can also go for the already existing ones from the individual competitions. 👍

I'd be in for any edit rule.

EDIT: Removing that "2.0" part should be no problem, thus we could use it for every individual edit rule. 💡

We don't need any banners, the ones used in previous tourneys will work. Also, there is a PmC version of the BMW bracketed banner.

(By the way, whose BMW shot is that? Bram's?)

I've been so busy with getting together my clothes to move back to my college that I forgot to bring along my PS2, just when a new Tournament is at the door :(

The background BMW shot is mine... :)

As you can see, I have made the banners more or less like Jacoja did in past Tournaments, only changed the background and sometimes the number of spots (16 or 8)

I guess I'll give it a shot too. Count me in.

I thought it might be yours...

So, should we have 8 or 16 spots for round one? I'm thinking that with the interest this could attract, we should have 16. Your guys' call though.

Also, nice to see you around jaco! It'd be great to have some more old guys participate.

I think we have like 8 already interested, so the brackets should be 16.

I'm in on both 2.0 and PMC either way.

You can always do a qualifying round buddy. This way at least all people interested can give it a go. Imagine that you decide to do a 16 spots Tournament, but the guy nr 17 have come too late...and so on...

:)

^^
Yes that's a good idea, with a qualifying round you could decide how large a bracket to use, by the amount of entries trying to qualify in each division.

That's exactly what I had in mind. I will have a qualifying round to decide the top eight, then round one will narrow it down to four, then round two will find the top two, and then the final round will declare the winner. Same for both divisions.
