I'm at workNow you haven't posted back for a few hours so you must be really enjoying it or sitting there wondering what the hell have I bought this for. Hope it's the former.

But I happen to work alone in my office, completely isolated of the rest of mankind (if it wasn't because the random visits of my superiors I'd have the G29 here, that's for sure LOL)I have registered in PCARS web, forums, etc. I'm watching Yorkie's videos and I'm basically trying to figure out what I'm going to do tonight. I have from 8:30 pm to 22:00 aprox. I want to join some online decent racing but I don't think is going to be just that easy.
Option 2, I pass (because it will probably download 5 or 6 GB of updates) and I do my GT S fia race (I'm unbeaten in my category, fastest lap, pole and victory in all my races). And I'll figure it out on weekend
But I'm so thrilled for taking this thing for a spin.... I don't know what to do...

I don't know how much it's downloaded from a fresh install (the 3 dlc and a few patches) but you're right it will be quite large.
Just remember that coming from GT you will have to adjust your driving style, I know I did. It takes a more considered approach.

I bought PCARS 1 before GTSport (I know GT is a bit like Forza). I use to warm up in PCARS before going into FIA championship in GTS. I'm not a hot headed, I promise.
I need to upgrade my license first of all if I want to get into proper Esport (which is the final goal). I have to race online for that

This morning was ready after a night of downloads and updates. I played a bit the 1.0 while downloading and I can understand why people was frustrated when this game came out. The FFB awful, the sound in the headphones is half as powerful as it should be, it doesn't detect the G29 if you have used the pad first... etc etc etc
Obviously, the 6.0 (I think that is the number) will have fixed all this when I sit to practice on friday.

Try switching the pad off in settings, FFB, have look for settings for wheel. Sound what headphones you using?

I think the sound volume issue varies a lot between cars. I drive the indy car alot which has no such problem but the lmp2 i am currently driving in the career mode is so quiet i can barely hear it over the other sounds.

That is exactly my problem. But I'm talking 1.0, vanilla version without patches (I couldn't wait 4 hours to test it). I reckon all this must be fixed with the patches... right?

The physics, Tyre model, FFB, graphics, AA, on-line stability, sounds where improved in the updates, so yes, you will find the game different.
About the pad "issue"... Enter the game with directly with the wheel and once in the game power on the dualschock .... It isn't a big problem
For improving a bit more the sounds, in the PS4 settings change the sound output to "Dolby" and will make it sound a bit more stronger
For the rest we will have to see what the 7.0 update brings in the incoming weeks
Take also your time with the options and settings IU's

Because I am Liam Neeson. I have a particular set of skills. I will look for you, I will find you..
Anyways 6.0 is such an improvement over launch. I'm sure the ffb is one. I have a g29 as well. I'd look for ffb settings though to improve it.
The sounds however will not improve too much, one of the weakest aspects of the game.

Could you share your FFB settings please? It always help. I want to feel the tyres more than anything, and the weight of the car, PCARS1 made me sweat like a pig but I felt everything.
I can't imagine that GT Sport has a better FFB than PCARS, right?

Because I like the surface detail rather than feeling more tire slip. If you want you can also try increasing both the tone and fx

Increasing Tyre pressure and making suspension stiffer also affects the ffb..
You can Also map on the wheel or an USB keyboard the "volume" settings and "tone" settings, so you can adjust those 2 feelings on the fly meanwhile you're driving

I'm the opposite, I like a high tone setting to let me know what the tyres are up to.
FX can be dialed in to provide surface detail anyway.

I increased both tone and fx, I feel less curbs now which I don't like but everything else feels better. I'll continue to tinker with those two settings
