New router/modem?

Like many people i keep getting disconnected whilst online and its becoming more and more frequent, even when practising on my own in lounge i get disconnected now. I've tried hard wiring, clearing cache reseting etc.. So i'm now thinking it could be my router after hearing people have solve thier issues by upgrading their routers.

I don't know much about computers so i'm after advice really on the best router/modem in the hope it will solve my issues so any reccomendations?

Linksys X3000
Netgear DGND3700
Asus DSL-N55U

What model do you have now? If you're able, it would certainly be work seeing if you can install the Tomato firmware on it.

Netgear DG834G. How would i go about doing this? I've been told the ping rate on this router is around 40ms which isn't good for gaming, though this means nothing to me!

Ends up it's irreverent as your router isn't compatible with either Tomato or DD-WRT.

A router can't have any certain ping unto itself. A ping rate is used to:

measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer.
