Right. One game per memory card. Lame, but that's the way it is.

By the way, just so you'll know: Do NOT back up a saved game to a second memory card from within the game. It will delete all the cars in your garage if you do.

Only back up from the PS2 browser. I'm so paranoid about it I exit the game and take the GT4 CD out, then shut off the PS2 and restart it, then do the backup.

ok thank you two for the info......and i will be sure to get a second memory card!sorry zardos.......not quite sure what your talking about >.<

...not quite sure what your talking about...

Well, its always a good idea to make a copy of a saved game on a second memory card. Whenever you make a lot of progress in a game, and you don't want to lose it, you copy your saved game onto a second memory card.

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes something goes wrong, and a game file on a memory card is corrupted and trashed. Goodbye saved game, and you get to start over. If you have recently copied it to another memory card, though, you're golden. You can just stick in the other card and carry on.

Thing is, you need to remember to copy your saved game occasionally to keep your copy fairly up to date with your main game file.

my auto save got turned to restricted at 10% because i did not want it messed up

currently at 65% no problems, i save, quit to menu, faff in arcade then reset and switch off

is there any special way how to quit from the game. I don`t want to loose my progress, and I don`t have 2nd memcard so I don`t have a backup. Usually I finish race, save game in my house (not in game mode menu where is arcade and simulation and so on.) and then hold power button to turn off.
I see that another forum user do this way: i save, quit to menu, faff in arcade then reset and switch off.
Finally: whitch is the best or safest way how to quit GT4 and turn off PS2 ???

To this day I've just made sure that the game isn't loading or saving anymore, quit to the main menu and held the power button to turn the machine off. No problems, ever.

What Greycap said.

In particular go to the Options menu, Misc, and set autosave to "restricted". It will then do autosaves only when you get into a new car (you may also want to switch off Opening Movie while you're there but that's a timesaver, it doesn't affect saving/loading).

I shut down after dismissing the "Ok" box after doing a save. I don't bother going back to the main menu or anything.

I would just turn off the intro anyway. It is one of the crapest intros in game history!

i have not had a problem so far (fingers crossed and touching wood) but as long as the little disk in the top right corner is not flashing or you have the loading screen you can turn off or reset.

very handy way to keep up your % if you want, is if your in a race and fluff it on the last corner (extremley guilty whilst doing very close 200 pointers) just hit re-set and reload.

i would definately recommed getting atleast two cards per game if you can. because if you start on the 200 point or gold quest. you really dont want to loose your game or you will curse the heavens and cry for about three days. because all the hard work you have put in is lost forever to the memory card gremlins. (and dont they just love that, the little buggers).

If you have a Codebreaker and a USB Drive, you can rename one then start another, or a memory manager disc to zip one then start another. but it is eaiser just to buy a 2nd cheap memory card (can get for around $10)
