The last time since I post my setup was a Humanracing GT chassis and today Im going to have a quick review on my new Rseat. The seat itself cost 1149 euros w/o shipping to UK and the T3L TV stand cost 399 euros w/o shipping as well
The first impression of the RS formula gave a surprise and everything looks really cool. I really love the seating position because this is the position I was sitting when i first drove a car. The only holdback is it requires loads of assembly and lacking details instructions from the manual.
Hardware wise I have fitted the Fanatec CSW and Clubsport pedals V2 with the Rseat Formula RS, 3 Panansonic TX-L3E6B 32'' LED TV and a custom computer (4770K 3.5 I7 and Radeon 7970 3GB GC).
This is how the setup looks like with everything fitted. Since the seat is lying down instead of a normal saloon seating position, the TVs need to have a slight tilt angle towards the ground just to make the vision better. Coming along with the T3L TV stand it makes the stand invisible and looks nicely designed to fit right around the RS Formula.
The rig itself has high adjustability in terms of the length of the whole rig, height, tilt angle of both the wheel deck and pedal box. The seat itself is really comfy as this is over my expectation, there are some really good cushion underneath and making this rig suitable for long period gaming.
This one I have the keyboard tray on but found it useless and took it back off at last.
The TV stand itself is highly adjustable as well, it has 3 different tilt angle from standing 90 degree up right down to 70 degree where I am currently using the 80 degree. There are also 3 levels of height to adjust from and now this is in the 2nd level.
Now it's down to the pedal box and also featuring some good stuff! as shown there are 5 different tilt angles to choose from and you can have different setting according to your preference. I prefer pedals to be more standing and sitting more upright. Apart from tilt angle, the heels plate or heel rest can adjusted as well and to fit the tilt angle of the pedals.
This is the part where I found problem is the screw does not fit quite well into the nut in the left pillar which hold the steering deck. I struggled abit to have this fixed so at last i just leave it as it was but fortunately it does not affect the sturdiness of the rig at all, so u can image the RS Formula is one good piece of construction.
Have a little talk with the fanatec stuff. I can only say it worths the price but not the best yet. For me the wheel still feel abit light after I have turned FFB to 100, Force to 400, spring and damper to 400 with max FFB setting using the BritishF3 mod, GP2 mod etc in rfactor. Pedal wise it is the same where I think it really worth good value for money but yet the brake is way to soft (For me). I have now moved the brake pivot point to the 4th level, which is the one with shortest and stiffest feel, in addition with my after market shock https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/fanatec-clubsport-pedals-mod-thread.290391/. But with the above setup this will already be a fantastic experience for most people!
And now its time to tease all of you for something different, the Cranfield university simulator. This unit is located in Hong Kong and was design for training racing driver, also the unit which i use the most. It is fitted with Leo Bodnar FFB steering with a real GP2/GP3/WSR steering and when the FFB is turned up most people will struggled to have 5 clear laps as this is physically demanding, pedals using the HPP (with slightly tuned to make the travel extrememly short and stiff to simulate a real formula car which driver places 80-100 bars of brake pressure). Motion wise it has a 4 actuators dbox system with their patent technology the G seat. It is basically a specially moulded seat and fittted around your body when u r sitting inside. So when your car turn the airbags apply pressure to your body and simulate the g force. this comes with the seatbelt as well. For the screen it is actually 3 projectors shooting onto a 180 degree curved screen.
All in all I really recommend this rig if you don't mind having some work done before enjoying, it is a high quality and top range product u can current find in the market. It is so sturdy that i didnt even feel flex or loose when i have max FFB and really stiff brakes. The only thing lacking is a gear shifter mount but people have been saying F1 cars are not using gear stick anymore. Yes it is true but many single seaters like Formula 3, TRS, 2002-2008 Formula Renault etc are stilling having the sequential shifting and blipping is needed in those cars. Therefore hopefully Rseat is considering to have a mount done asap.
