New Tire Degradation Update Makes NASCAR Championship Impossible?

Just when I thought this game couldn't get any more frustrating, I tried the NASCAR Championship. First race is at the Indy and I dominated the competition. I thought maybe I would do great in this championship. Then it was time for the Grand Valley. This was by far the most frustrating. I tried keeping my driver as cool as possible but still, he would drift WAY too much causing my tires to wear down within 2-3 laps. I checked on some of the other drivers and their tires weren't as worn down as mine. High Speed Ring was easy as well, Laguna Seca was okay, and I couldn't manage a win at the Daytona.

Anyway, I feel like I'm hitting a pause in my progression in Gran Turismo 5. I'm at 86% completion and I'm racing with a level 27 driver.

Tips, tuning setups, and anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Happy New Year!

Give him a run at the new B-spec seasonal at Spa.
He will soon be up for any challenge as this race gives 700 000 xp pr race, oh and you'll pick up some cash in the process.

Check out the seasonal forum for pointers.

No you want to lower the top speed of the gear box but raise gear 1-3. to stop wheel spin
You also want to MAX OUT the rear wing.
And raise the car hight.
There no need to rush it you can even boost the Driver level higher still.
its an 8 lap race. You only need to pass first place on lap 7

Yeah, the plan right now is I'm gonna grind the new B-Spec Seasonal till about level 35 or 40. That's a good point though, there really is no rush. Gonna be making great money in the process. 8M an hour for me.

NASCAR requires a hot-headed driver. Cold guys can't get the job done because the pressure is always there. I had to use a guy with the slider all the way to the right to win that championship regardless of car settings.

I used a level 40 driver that is calm and got all gold on every race. The closest win was by 10 seconds on Laguna Seca. Its all about messing with the gear ratios. On the first race, high speed ring and the last race, use top speed of 236mph and be aggressive. On the other races, use top speed of 211 MPH and be conservative in the early laps and then push him in the later laps. This helps conserve tires and your bob will have better control while the opposition will be sliding all over the place. Hope this helps.

I have a Bob named K. Petty so I thought it would be fun to run him through the Nascar championship. IIRC he was in the low 20's when I entered him.

He couldn't get the job done so I brought in a 30+ level driver and didn't have any issues. Won every race, although I honestly thought Daytona was going to end up being a ridiculously frustrating crap-shoot that came down to the very last corner like the A-spec race.
