Burnout2C
so im very new to drifting and currently all i use is a ruby red F-150 and i dont think that is allowed in drifting rooms....what should i do to better my skills and car wise? i was thinking of trying to drift in a ZZII

Start off with an S-13 Silvia stock on Comfort hards and practise with that. As you get better you can start adding parts to add power.
I think there are already a few threads on this topic. Best to have a look there first.

Not again.......

Oh not you again, mr doom and gloom. You don't have to open the thread and if your looking for completely new, unique and original topics of conversation a specialist forum that focuses on one game is not the place to find it.

Perhaps Stephen Fry is more your caliber of conversation? Further more it's great to see "noob drifter" topics or any other that are here frequently it shows that the games popularity is growing. Why should someone new to the game or the drifting element be ridiculed and met with antagonistic comments from more seasoned players and members. Some people don't want to use the search function, It does not always work and it's not as good as having some one reply to your specific thread.

In closing, this forum the last time I checked was for fans of the GT series to talk about what ever they want regarding their game. A pub landlord does not limit the topic of conversations in his establishment to only new and original topics. Otherwise I'd never be able to talk about "that football game" I saw last week because too many people have spoken about it already.

There are now many many threads which will provide more than enough infromation to help people get started in drifting.

The BEST way to learn is to basically try and drive normally with C/H tyres. Once the car slides use throttle control to try and keep it under control.

You will gradually begin to understand the physics and how you can initiate and control a drift to do whatever you want, whenever you want.

Chris.

I refresh the drifting section constantly, hoping for more information about upcoming battles or tournaments, it's quite anoying to see thread after thread popping up asking for 'beginers help'.

Chris.

Godfrey, your battle/tournament/team threads are clogging up the forum as there are already a million of them as well. I do not like how the threads I do not want to see are visible to my eyes in a public forum I do not moderate. Why not use one thread to house them? (Not particularly sarcasm, just pointing out that it can work both ways.)

I admire newcomers. I admire their willingness to learn. Perhaps Godfrey, if you'd take the initiative and organize the information into sort of a drifting index thread, providing links to specific topics like toe/camber/tires/techniques/etc instead of posting pointless remarks out of childish frustration... you could help resolve your own problem. ;)

Back on topic, I'd recommend simply watching drift videos taken from GT5 replays and comparing. They mostly use road cars and comfort tires, as there is minimal downforce to keep the back loose and less grip to keep the car from snapping when it catches.

I let this one go because he asked for other people's opinion rather just stating," Oh, I am new here 2 tha dorifto, plz add me" or some sorts of that. Please feel free to use the PM system and our search bar for all your drifting news.
Godfrey, its understandable that your trying to help though there are times just linking the person to the right thread is just enough.

Please read Burnout2C .

:), nice one.

I have only posted two new drifting threads, one is my teams, the other was discussing the use of AWD in drifting. Please get your facts right and have a quick scan of the forums before deciding what should be done in them.

Chris.

nk4e, a couple things first... Do you have a ps3 and GT5 yet? Are you a moderator?

Besides, that thread is hardly what I was talking about. Most people see that as a "Hello, my name is..." thread and skip over it. Its a very broad thread usually skimming over generalizations instead of specifics. As an example, a "tuning help" link. What kind of tuning help is it? LSD/toe/camber/spring rates/dampers/brakes/downforce/roll bars/a conjunction of some (spring rates relative to dampers relative to roll bars) ??? Any one of those or a mix that correlate with each other are what I mean by specifics. I simply don't have the time to do it myself. :(

Finally, you could have pleasantly suggested that the topic poster browse your thread rather than confront my post. ;)

Nope and nope. I have seen enough people enter the Nu-new members thread just announcing themselves in it than thread being made. But I will take that into consideration. (Let me update the drift settings depot). Though the Nu-new members thread also an introduction thread.

To be honest mate, at first I had no idea what the 'Nu-New Members' thread was. I thought it was some pre-existing team/group or something. Maybe a new sticky with the title 'New drifters introduce yourself here' or something is needed, I dunno.

No Knight, read the parenthesis. ;) I could care less what (or how many) threads there are. I do think that team thread subjects deserve their own sub-forum though... but this going far too off-topic.

Bring that up with Jordan or the moderators.
