Hi guy's .
I have just purchased X box & Forza 3 & Forza 2 & with FM2 I can download the Road America track pack , cost 100 something :nervous: is this real money or Forza winnings ?
Cheers Ozi

I wouldn't have bothered getting FM2. FM3 has pretty much everything in FM2 but better in almost every way...

You have to buy microsoft points either by going in to a store...or from the internet with a credit card...

Well...except the damage model's pretty much the same...the livery editor's the same (but with unlimited layers), 50% of the cars are the same, the graphics are pretty much the same, most of the tracks are the same...it's basically an ever-so-slightly better version of FM2...kinda like Crackdown 1 & 2.

Oh and FM3 won't crash your Xbox.

A bit like most racing game series then?

Or, infact, any series of games. Call of Duty, for example.

Like that's going to happen Bill Gates is rich enough . :)

What about buying action cars from other players ? That is just prize money is it not ? [so far unable to find this ]

I find the game so far not as good as GT4 , although graphics much nicer & do like the driving & braking lines . Also find hard mode to hard & medium to easy .
The support from their Forzamotorsport forum takes 3 days for a mod to vet new members just when you need help the most .
Thanks for the feed back Ozi

Some features have been removed in Forza 3:
- LAN mode
- Local leaderboards
- Central display of the tachometer

Ahhh i remember my first experience with forza....

Cops and robbers on pacific shipping yard.. good days..

Hope you enjoy it man !

It does cost real money, but 100 Microsoft points doesn't equal £100 or anything like that. You buy the points in shop or online. 100Points I think off the top of my head is about £2.50.

I kept my FM2 save 'just in case', but I've seen no reason to load it since I got FM3 on launch day.

With Road America and Twin Ring Motegi in FM3, I wouldn't bother buying them for the older game, personally.

Like others have said, just skip Forza 2 and go right to Forza 3. F3 is a MUCH better game by a longshot. Just wait until you see the Benchmark 8 lane dragstrip. I still have yet to see any racing game with that. There is enough in Forza 3 to keep you busy for at least a year straight.

And don't forget the online match making mode is worse, and no where as streamlined as FM2

Is Benchmark part of the game , or do I have to use credits to get it ?
I wont spend any of my hard earned to add any extra features to FM3 & as very much a B grade driver I wont embarrass myself to race online .

You should have a DLC code in the gamebox, to enable you to download the benchmark tracks and classic car pack for free.
Classic car pack rocks BTW.

Thanks mate , I did download Motor sports legends car pack & Benchmark down load recons Redeem code already used :grumpy: & now it will cost 400 credits & thanks for the help so far .👍👍👍

I installed Disc 1 to the hard drive as it was supposed to be quicker to load , but loading times seem to be the same & still has to have disc to play FM3 . I have my PS2 fitted with a h/drive & load times for GT4 much quicker then playing GT4 from disc .

There are limits to the amount of layers you can apply to various parts of the car in Forza 3. Also, the graphics are better, if not just accounting for the re-mapping and updated polygon count coded for Forza 3.

There really wasn't a matchmaking system in Forza 2, so much as a public/private host lobby system. Many rue it's loss, myself included.

Cars purchased through the online Auction House use in-game credits earned through racing.

I know you said you don't race online, but you might want to give Private Race a try from the online race options. From there you can set up your own races that are very customizable. You will not be limited by the selection of car/track/lap/race type combinations single player offers you. These races also tend to offer a better reward for completing the races vs single player career.

*DLC tracks are only used in the game through arcade mode and multiplayer only. So if you don't race in multiplayer(Private Race included), or the limited arcade mode, DLC tracks are useless to you.

Thanks Racer6c & I am starting to change my mind on online racing , but still new to the game , still use hand controller . I cant see the value for me to purchase M/soft points just to be able to buy extra car's & stuff that should have come with the game . :grumpy:
Is there a novice section to start online racing in ?
Cheers Ozi

There isn't necessarily a novice section to begin racing online. However, there is a stock production hopper that pits driver against driver in untuned production cars. These races are great because everybody has the exact same car and setup. You can run whatever assists you like, but the cars are all the same.

Go to race/multiplayer/circuit/cycled production

As far as purchasing content for games these days it is never necessary. I only purchase DLC for games that I am very into. There are several car packs avail for Forza 3, and I think only 1 track (Nurburgring GP, a really great track in the game BTW) so far. There are some really great cars scattered across the various car packs, but I haven't even purchased them all.

Kinda like the GT series then :sly:

For online play FM2 is head and shoulders above FM3 unless of course your focus is on drifting, thier idea of a drag race or cat and mouse. FM2 is also more competive in several classes.

As for DLC if you want this in FM2 you should look for the Platinum edition of the game as it includes all the dlc for less money than the DLC alone will cost you. With FM3 you should wait a few weeks and get the new bundled pack on it as well.

btw Replacing custom public lobbies with Hoppers is about the worst idea I have ever saw for a game. I loved the custom lobbies but hate the hoppers with a passion.

Can't wait for GT5, I just hope they get the online racing right. Forza 3 clearly did not.

No he has not played the game to say so stupid comments.

Graphism are way better, cars are much more detailed so are the track with a far better lighting.

You have tracks such as Fujimi Kaido, a copy of the Akina down hill in the Manga/movie Initial D.

But if you have already bought the game I let you discover it by yourself.

I feel the exact opposite. I would in fact hate to go back to the Forza 2 online model. It would be cool if you had an option of both though to satisfy everyone.

The private lobbies on Forza 3 are cool but we quickly got bored racing against the same people all the time. The hoppers are not even close to as good as the custom lobbies were in FM2 and not near as many people playing them.

In FM2 even 1 year after realease it was easy to get a full lobby of good racers, meeting new people and making friends. After 1 year of racing on FM3 I have met 1 person who I have added to my friends list and race with sometimes while 20 or so have yet to even run a race. These are guys that used to race almost everyday on FM2.

If you want drag, drift, cat and mouse or just love AWD then maybe the FM3 online is better due to these additions but the PI is worse, the variety of actual races is pitiful and the chance to meet knew people who share your taste in racing is much lower than before.

If they would have simply added to the private lobby an option to allow them to be open to public and an option to search for open lobbies then it would be fine but as it is pretty much everyone I know has give up on it. Most of which were online fanatics in FM2.

Personally I played FM2 online one day and went out and bought a 360 and the game. I pre-ordered the VIP of FM3 with high hopes but sad to say the game was a huge dissapointment. The carrer mode is bland and boring. The online play [aside from private lobbies] is the worst I have ever played. It had much potential but failed.
