New to GT Series and PS3

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm posting here because GTP will be my first GT purchased. I'm new to the GT series and PS3,but I noticed there is a great community behind the series and I want to get involved. I'm new to GT but I'm heavily into Forza 3 and any other racing games. I just bought a PS3 specificaly for GT5 and was hoping I could learn the ropes with GTP. I'm mainly just looking for some tips and some fellow racers to get to know before GT5 releases.
