Hey eveeryone. I'm new to the Drift section of GT5 and was wondering if anyone was currently online and was willing to help me out. I have been drifting on Forza since the end of Forza 2, but I seem to be struggling on this game. So if anyone is online just sned me your name and I'll add you, mine is cjoldham. Thanks.

Aha, there should really be a thread for this, too much of these threads keep coming up on this Drifting Forum.

Best advice to a controller drifter is to use any S13 (UCD or NCD) and what I did was use the 1st Engine Upgrade, Titanium-Racing Exhaust and a Low RPM Range Turbo Kit. You don't want too much HP when you're learning and you don't want to little.

Just get used to holding the drifts by moving the analog stick left or right (only when you feel you need to), and throttle control. Transitions are as easy as just letting off the gas until you snap, throttle, and countersteer. You'll get the hang of it in a few weeks for sure. As you progress, add more HP and start making tunes to make your car(s) as comfortable as you like when driving sideways. :D

Thanks man, and sorry I probably should have just searched, that's what I usually do but I wanted to try and find some people to drift with as well.

Ok thanks I was curious if there was a thread like that, I just didn't know where to find it. Thanks.

No problem. :D
It's stickied, first thread when you click into the Drifting Forum.

What GODfreyGT5 said, please explore the forums as well. Certain questions must stay in certain threads/forums.

What tracks do you recommend and does the gt5 community focus more on points drifting or like formula d rules?

Tsukuba, Suzuka and Autumn Ring Mini.

There are different types of drift competitions that drifters host, D1 and Formula Drift just like real life.
Look in the Drift Teams & Meets sub-forum to see the competitions and rules, but every competition have almost the same rules, but HP/PP limits I believe, Formula D has different rules I'm pretty sure, never joined a FD comp before.

We drift to drift.

Comps are done on the side.

Please try not to branch out on this thread :P

Oh I'm sorry I wasn't trying to branch out, I was just curious, because I know in forza points drifting is worth very little on the forums die to the "terrible" points system in that game, so I was just curious as me be a new drifter in gt5 should my goal be to hit the clipping points in each turn like real life or of you guys focused more on the points systems (I'm not familiar with the drift points system here) thanks, and I'm sorry for branching out my post, this will be my last question in it.

Most of the drifting community focuses on D1 and FD style. A lot of us even enter in competitions and tournaments with the same rules and regulations as the real life events.

And for your question about tracks to start with. In my opinion you should start with Suzuka East to learn how to hold your drift angle, extend your drift, and to transition and keep your speed while doing transition to make it around the next corner.

Then to better your angle and learn a more complex transitions while extending your drift i would suggest Grand Valley Speedway. There is a great section for this after the downhill hairpin turn. Start at the uphill part go to the tunnel. And that whole track is a great track to drift.

And no we don't do points drifting like in the drift trails in the seasonal events. I really don't think anyone really cares about this or really thinks it is competitive in anyway. Because it is just solo runs and in the seasonal drift trials it doesn't count 90 degree drifts :(

Thanks man I've been drifting on Tsukuba but I'm very familiar with Suzuka so i guess I'll go there next.

I also answered your other question in my last post. I was editing while you wrote this one. But yeah no problem

Have you guys forgotten Trial Mountain?!

This thread was dead for 2 months, please try not to bump these threads especially if you are not actually giving advice. Not trying to sound offensive and not blaming you entirely, after all I'm sure everone has done it before somewhere at sometime.
