Hi All, been along time since I posted or even visited here as didn't have time to get the wheel out and sit and enjoy.

Played GT since release when I could but mainly just the campaign stuff but recently start on the sport mode.

Im looking for any help where possible and been reading through all the other threads.

At the moment im sat at DR C and SR B my SR was S but went from S to C in he space of a weekend in bad races.

I know it is the same for everyone but I feel when ever I get in a good grid position I get smashed of the track and I get the -SR on my screen.

Ill hold my hand up where there has been time when I have broke late but more times than not im getting hit from behind on corners and getting -SR.

I usually do race C as enjoy the longer ones and for Gr.3 use the 911 and Gr.4 M4 and these are because thats what I saw in the top 10 times.

I have started spending more time on my qualifying times since taking the hit on my SR to get away from the pack but it was the steady driving round in the 10-20 spots that got it up but that didn't do my DR any favours.

Any help or advise would be appreciated and might see you on the track.

Like you I was SR S before last weekend. The weekend seems to bring out a) kids and b) drunks... neither of which are good for SR.

EDIT:
A couple of weeks back, I decided to go on the hunt for SR. I conceded DR in order to get up the SR ranks. When I reached SR A, I then got competitive again and went from a low C to a steady B (DR).

It takes a fair amount of effort to maintain a B ranking, so you are much less likely to be paired with idiots if you can get up imo.

Edit, edit: A good tactic to maintain DR whilst increasing SR is to just try and hold your position, don't worry about barging to the front...

Additionally, on the subject of Sport mode in general, I was massively disappointed at the lack of offline content when I first got GT Sport. However, I am now addicted to online racing and the buzz from gaining a couple of positions (even if that means a 7th or 8th place finish).

I've been hit up the back a few times recently and not received an orange SR, so I guess the game determined you were in error when you got hit.
ie there was no reason to be so slow in a corner or braking zone.

I think it's better to spend lap practice time in online lobbies, so you can practice the lap among other cars.

I tend to put about 5 laps in to qualifying, then I am pretty comfortable with my grid position, I'd rather be watching the car ahead than the car behind, and be comfortable racing in a group where I am not on my limit. But I stick to the fuel/tire wear races, so I never get to hotlap in a race.
I'm in a rank where I will never win though, so my opinions may differ.

Re: brakling and being hit from behind... use the radar to see who is behind you and where the may be, then you can move to the left or right to avoid being done up the arrrse.

Yes this can really help against the guys who like to use you as a brake for the slower corners, as you if see them coming at high speed you can turn away from the corner and therefore them and watch them fly off and you can carry on without penalty or otherwise having you race ruined by them knocking you off.

At this point, impatience is a far greater threat than morons barging into you from behind. I suggest concentrating solely on improving your SR rating first. Having an SR rating of B or C means you will be grouped with total noobs or careless drivers who invariably will have an impact (pun intended) on every race. Instead of busting your butt trying to qualify, I suggest not doing so. You will start at the back of the grid where you won't be constantly under pressure. Even if you finish last or just gain 1 or 2 positions, you would stand a better chance of getting a "clean" race completed. A "clean" race can improve your SR rating immensely regardless of where you finish. Be patient, drive defensively, sit back, get more "seat" time and also take the opportunity to learn the track more in depth. Watch how the other drivers take corners and where they make mistakes. Be patient and wait until the guy in front makes a mistake to allow you to pass but be cautious. Eventually, you will get to an SR rating of S where most of the other drivers are relatively better mannered. Then concentrate on improving your DR rating by consistently picking up positions whilst being clean. Be patient especially on longer races where fuel and tire usage is in force.

You can see from my charts, the correlation between SR and DR.... I sacrificed DR to gain SR, then decided (about day 75 when I got to SRA) to start being competitive again. Since then my DR shot from 6000 to 16000 in 5 or 6 days and has remained around 14000 since...

Thanks for all the advise, ill give it another go tonight going into the race with an average qualifying time and see what happens, Im half way through DR C so hopefully that won't take too much of a hit with lower finishes.

mikevillena I race like you said to be honest and wait for people to make mistakes and then pass but at times thats when I get hit trying to slow down not to hit the person in front and then someone usually takes us both out.

Ill try and get my SR back up to S I did this last time in a night and a couple of steady races but trust me I lost it just a quick.

Regarding the Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars are the 911 and M4 really the best as I've got about 3M to spend at the moment.

Thanks again.

Race what you feel comfortable in... BUT the top 10 use those two so I guess, technically, they must be the "best" cars to use.

If they‘re flying at double your speed at you you can‘t see them on the radar unless it‘s too late. At least that‘s my experience with it, I‘ve never seen a dive bomber come on the radar until i got hit

Sure, you can't avoid full pace divebombers... but the cases where you brake slightly earlier or harder than a person chasing you can be avoid by this

You are obviously a good racer/gamer in the first place so got clear of most of the chaos quite quickly.

It's very easy to maintain a poor ranking by just being inconsiderate and trying to ram my way to first place, getting frustrated and losing my cool.

It's much easier to lose it a bit on revenge missions and then regain quickly after being high already. You can see where I changed my approach... that is it for me now, new leaf :D

EDIT: The higher the DR the less chance of bumper cars, basically... it's not just down to SR

Well i did that by doing the opposite of what someone else said.
I put lots of effort into qualifying (watch the top10 guys replays for best braking points and lines) so i start as high as possible.
The mess all seems to be at the back or midfield, the fastest guys just want to race properly and win more often than not.
Also if someone is on your tail and you can't shake them just let them past, it will stop them becoming frustrated and making a stupid lunge and 7 out of 10 times will make a mistake and go off if you stick to their tail instead.

"the fastest guys just want to race properly". This is my point - the higher your DR, the higher the DR of your competitors and the more serious they take it. I now do what you say: qualifying until I'm really happy with my time and start as high in the grid as possible. Again, like you say, the higher you start the easier it is to maintain a high position to finish.

This guy is very fast and clean.
He also does great track guide videos.

I did almost 400 Sport Mode Races and even coming from an S/S Driver, I have way more fun in Lobby Racing. Sport Mode has far too much aggression and an okay penalty system that makes mistakes... I prefer to get in a Lobby with a group of respectful adults that want to improve and have fun. You get a bad apple in the group, guess what! You can boot him right out lol. Only problem with Lobbies is there is a skill gap without the matchmaking from Sport Mode and some hosts will kick you (me) for winning too many in a row.

My DR went slightly down but still C but my SR went up slightly so did what I wanted tonight let’s see what tomorrow brings.

@ChrisWAFC what races did you do?

For me... +2000 DR, but -17 SR... so an ok night. Just did the Miyabi race 4 or 5 times, got a couple of wins and a couple of 2nds. The problem with Miyabi is there are only 2 (or 3?) sectors, so if you have one even minor bump it knocks your SR. Hope today's races are better though... up for doing a good 10 lapper in group 4.

I was on Race C and not the carnage I expected but always dropped at least 5 places on first corner watching them all drive into each other hence the drop in DR.

Steady race after that but only gain abit of SR each race.

100000% this. I spent the last few days grinding it out at the back of the pack and my SR has shot up to 99. now enjoying races a lot more and not had one episode of divebombing in the last 3 days which is a record for me lol

How much DR did you lose? I suppose if you are high enough, you can afford to lose some doing this. I think if I did a few races of this I'd drop back to C

well in the last 4 days:

my DR went from 27673 to 25898
my SR went from 69 to 99

not bad going I'd say.... now to get to 30k DR for that A rating 💡

You should put your kudosprime in your signature @Robben :)

Good going 👍

Nah, no one needs to see that :lol

Jokes... it's here: http://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?profile=2684752

Been working on the DR the past couple of days, but losing SR. I found even one rub on Miyabi last night meant either a neutral or red SR at the end of the race. So frustrating.

one things for sure T1 at Monza doesnt look good for the SR lol

Yeah, will enter without qualifying to just rack up 10 laps' worth of SR firstly this evening.

What happened to you between days 40 and 60 btw?! You were way down in the DR stakes...
