So I've been playing Gran Turismo games for years. From the original Gran Turismo, to now. I always did basic tuning to the cars after upgrading them, like gear ratios and maybe lowering the ride height. But I never really got into any of the other adjustments, such as Camber angles and Damper configurations. I would really like to learn how to tune my cars right.

I mainly like Muscle cars. But I still like other cars once in awhile too. I have a Alfa Romeo Competizione(premium one from new car dealership), that I tried tuning, after fully upgraded, but I can't seem to figure out the best way to tune that thing. Also, same thing with new and old muscle cars....

I downloaded Scaff's tuning guide for suspensions and brakes, but I get lost in all those terms such as yaw, and everything. I just can't seem to understand it. I only read through the first like 8 pages, so maybe it gets easier to understand after that? I don't know.

What I am looking for is basically just some general tips, or a more basic, new to tuning, guide, with maybe some general advice, like if it seems I have to slow the car down way too much to take a turn, because the turning radius is too wide or something, what are some of the tuning options I could change and then try again?

I read in that guide that you should tune your car for whichever track you will be using it on, but I find that to be too in depth for me, and too hard to keep track of. :boggled: I have other things to do in my day, so spending time creating a word or excel document for a game is not on my priority list. That's why I was just asking for some general how-to and tips for tuning.

Are there any guides that are a little more basic than Scaff's, or any other sites or topics on here that I may have missed?

Thank you in advance! I would really appreciate it. Until then, I will keep trying to understand Scaff's guides...:banghead:

There's sticky on the top of the page called GT5 Tuning guide, you should start with this, it's well written and explain you how to modify a car behavior.

Personally, I think this guy's very simple guide is a good place to start. Read the 2nd post in this thread. It's intended for those of us that don't know much about tuning, but want to start somewhere. I've been using his concepts and my cars work better and I've developed a better understanding of why. I suggest you try it for a while, then you can move on from there.

Yeah, that's the one I downloaded, Scaff's guide for GT4. All of this is completely new to me, tuning, oversteer, understeer, dampers, camber angles, etc. I started reading that guide by Scaff, but like I said...:banghead::banghead:

Hey thanks:cheers:, I'll check it out right now! This is probably more of what I was looking for...
