New to Tuning - What tips do I need?

Asking you experts for some tips on tuning. Not talking about adding parts, but tuning suspension.

I've already downloaded and saved the GT4 tuning guide part 1 & 2. Actually used it to tune a Corvette ZR1 RM for a league endurance race with max HP of 502HP. My best lap was 1:28 and my consistent laps were 1:30. Everyone else was getting 1:24-1:27.

The race was at Laguna Seca. What I felt was happening was oversteer coming out of the turns. So I tried to tune to reduce oversteer. Actually think that worked fine cause though I was slow, I really didn't have a problem with oversteer. She stayed on the track just fine.

I'm also not asking for a specific tune; just some thoughts and guidelines on what I should look for and what I should be thinking when I tune.

Thanks greatly for the help!

Ok here goes.
Just off hand
Generally speaking by raising the front ride height, spring rate, and anti roll bar, then conversely lowering the rear it will reduce oversteer. The opposite is true for understeer. I personally try to keep the Damper (Ext) even, then adjust the compression from front to rear again based on under/oversteer.

In all actuality the description that GT5 itself gives you about camber and toe is one of the better descriptions I myself have read, so I would suggest you take a look at that when tuning. Also the thread titles LSD Guide Summaries posted by MotorCityHami is probably the most comprehensive guide to setting up your differential.

There is a thread called:

Guide to creating GT5 tune from scratch

I don't know how to add things as links sorry. Read the first post. It is long an very helpful. It's under the 'GT5 Tuning Forum' section of this fine site.

Go Advanced and then click on the "Insert Link" icon (looks like the earth) and paste the link into the pop-up.

It will look like this: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5448515[/URL

(with "]" at the end)
[URL="https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5448515"]https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=5448515

You can also insert a link into a word or sentence:
blablablablabla

-highlight blablablabla
-click "Insert Link"
-paste link into the pop-up

blablablablabla[/URL

(with "]" at the end)

Thanks to everyone who suggested my tuning method. If you've got any questions (or suggested improvements), feel free to PM me or post in the thread.

Test, test, test. And when you think you got the perfect setup, TEST AGAIN!
