New Year Holiday Challenge freezing PS3.

Hello,

after finishing (like going off road, hitting anotehr car,...) one of the overtake challenge (Lancia Stratos, Mercedes, Pagani Huayra, for example), very often the PS3 completely freezes. The only solution is to press the I/O button for some seconds, then power on the console.

I find this vey annoying. Does anybody else experience this kind of situation?

I play with a Logitech driving force wheel.

Yes it is beginning to be a problem for some very recently with these new events, for others it has been going on for weeks or months, it started with update 1.12 for myself and I have lost a couple of thousand unrecorded miles to it due to having to reset the console each time.

I have found what should only really be a temp solution because PD MUST GET ROUND TO INVESTIGATING AND FIXING THIS, and that is to switch the PS3 output down to 720p, since I've done this a few weeks ago it has only happened once in the Pagani overtake TT and zero times elsewhere and it used to happen in all events at least 10 times a day for me since update 1.12 .. so i'm sure it is a problem relating to the games output of these latest updates at 1080p with whatever new coding they may have introduced concerning the visual aspect of the game.

@nowcontrol I have had not one incident with these new events for freezing or any other seasonal events and my PS3 output is 1080p.

You mean that freezes in the countdown? I don´t know wich output is on my ps3 but yesterday I notice this problem with the Stratos and the Huarya

That is why I said only for some. I kept quiet about it for a long time when it first started for me, except for mentioning it once in a past seasonal thread, but I have now seen enough threads/post from other people questioning about such freezes to realize i'm not alone and it is spreading and getting worse with each new update.

There could be many possibility's as to why your game/console as well as many others are immune for the time being.

I had to delete the the playlist as recommended by someone somewhere here.

Gallery / Music playlist. Delete the Race BGM files, Menu BGM files and Slideshow BGM files. I don't listen to music while racing so it was no loss for me.

It has worked so far for me and I was unable to get a minute or two into some of the challenges before it locked up.

Its happening here too. Very very annoying.

Mine has been doing this since about October, game works 100% offline but freezes half the time when restarting seasonal events. Doesn't freeze any other time, I have cleared cache in game and in PS3 settings but to no avail. problem is really putting me off playing the seasonals.

Have tried to turn off all music, delete playlist and deleted all music off PS3 to no avail.

I must stress this crash only happens when restarting seasonal events, it never happens when the system is offline. Also the system works flawlessly with everything I ask of it so cant believe the blu ray laser is at fault.
