Alright ive never tried a wheel or anything for the ps2 but I just purchased GT4 today and I want to build a homemade cockpit out of wood for this game. I was thinking of going with the Logitech Driving Force Pro but I dont like how the shifter is right up there by the steering wheel.. i want to know if this is possible..

What i want to do is have an e-brake and the shifter (preferably an h shifter like the real ones in a car).. is that possible? If so what would I need, as in what wheel etc. If thats not possible its a real bummer because that would be great.. because I really want to pull up an ebrake around a corner -_-

Slics.....Under this category is a thread called "Cheap Cockpit Alternatives"...on page 38, the top post is from a GTPlanet member named nurburgring...contact him and find out what he did to 'hack' a 3rd party controller in order to get a working hand-brake for use in GT4.

If what he's done is something that you're not able to do, technically and/or mechanically speaking, then the only 'alternative' is to:
* Purchase an actual 'handbrake' from a company called Frex over in Japan.
* Open up the DFP, if/when you get one, and make the necessary changes to incorporate the handbrake.
I have one of these, so I know what I'm talking about! :-)

Here's a link to a pic. of their handbrake if you're interested!

SRD:

Sounds cool, but for an HShift + Handbrake + Wheel adapter kit for the DFP it costs 591.59 dollars!?!? That is insaaaane! I hope my currency calculation was just wrong.. :-( And that doesnt even include shipping

But don't forget..a Frex H-Shifter will *not* work with GT4....so, you'll save some money that way....unless you want to use the H-shifter for a particular PC racing game...then you're good to go!

PS: Yes..their (Frex) prices are high..as I can atest, but on the flip side..they're top notch and will last longer then any other part you can think of..so you do get what you pay for.. ;)
