Hi all as some you may know i'm very active in the project cars community as i'm a backer. however i own assetto corsa but haven't played it much however i have no idea where to start with the game.

I figured by doing a thread like this it will not only help me but other newcomers if it was to get stickied.

so here are my two main questions
1) i noticed a lot of online games use mod content. what are the essential mods to play this game online?

2) Do you have any tips when playing the game?

If anyone has anything that would help a new player post it and i'll turn it into a new player guide.

Hi @Willfred_1,

welcome

and thanks for all you do on PCars, I appreciate it greatly except when the waiting feels unbearable.

hehe, only joking, I'm too old for that silliness. When you're old waiting is good because it means time passes slower.

1. it depends, there are some/many privately run racing sites for profit that have privately developed content that can usually only be obtained through them although these sometimes leak out on places like the Portugese A.C. modders Facebook page. Otherwise do an internet search, there are lots of worldwide mod sites that do not agree with nor are they governed by the US's copywrong legislation. (just a personal opinion)

To give you an idea about content and I don't have it all by any means, I have 100 tracks including variations and 170 cars including variations. Today I worked out if I wanted to set a decent lap time for each car variant on each track variant, taking 10 mins to get accustomed enough to post a clean and reasonable lap time, it would take me 63 days at 24 hours a day.

2. Don't expect to go from last to first and win every race, some races if you manage a couple of overtakes you did real well.
When doing the time trial events, do the first two laps as slow as you can, then just put in the fastest clean laps after and you'll get golds every time. Non clean laps will cost you points deductions.

I played around for a while trying out different levels of difficulty until I found one that provided a good challenge where occasionally I might win or be able to win ex-errors and some where it just is not possible to get first. I'm sure I've read you saying the same about PCars and the AI.
Sometimes they can be really really good and provide lap after lap of great door to door racing. But they can also be really dumb and horribly aggressive (100), although YMMV.
Hope to see you on track. 👍

Thank you. Are there any tracks or cars that would be essential or is it just download what you like?

Up to you and what you like. Spa, Suzuka, Sarthe and the Mountain I looked for first but Lake Louise is very popular and a fun challenge if you like long long circuits. I also like the very long point to point/hill climb tracks most of which you'll find either at Racedepartment or AC's own site else try the Facebook reference or (pm me for a link) and there is a very good Pike's Peak available too. You can also see what mods are being worked on but not yet released on AC's site.
