Gonna post now the results and pictures of the first race of the season.

50 Cars showed up trying to race, but since only 38 are alllowed to race, some people watched the race from the paddock.

Another big problem for the rookies is that the TOP 25 from last year championship + The champion and runner-up from Stock Car Light have their places secured on the grid. So, of 38 spots, 27 were already secured, leaving 11 grid spots for 23 cars.

This was very controversial during the whole weekend (i for instance totally disagree with these "secure spots"), but everybody knew the rules since February.

So, these drivers have their spots secured:

2006 TOP 25
1) Cacá Bueno, 257;
2) Antonio Jorge Neto, 251;
3) Hoover Orsi, 248;
4) Felipe Maluhy, 247;
5) Giuliano Losacco, 244;
6) Thiago Camilo, 237;

9) Rodrigo Sperafico, 223;
10) Ricardo Maurício, 216;
11) Ingo Hoffmann, 93;
12) David Muffato, 58;

20) Allam Khodair, 32;
21) Tarso Marques, 30;
22) Mateus Greipel, 30;
23) Thiago Marques, 30;
24) Paulo Salustiano, 23;
25) Luciano Burti, 18;

+ 2006 Stock Car Light Champion: Marcos Gomes
and 2006 Stock Car Light Runner-up: Daniel Serra.

This complex rule put Enrique Bernoldi and Ricardo Zonta, both rookies, out of the race.

Here is the qualifying results:

And here are the race results

Ricardo Maurício won for the first time on the championship, Felipe Maluhy on 2nd (still want his first win), and Daniel Serra on 3rd. A rookie on the podium, after starting the race on pole position.
