This thread is inspired by the anticipation of the preseason match between the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. I'm a college guy, so I obviously like collegiate rivalries more. But I'm asking all of you...

Which football rivalries are better- pro rivalries or collegiate rivalries?

I'll start.

I like collegiate rivalries more because collegiate rivalries carry greater depth than most pro rivalries. You LIVE for rivalries in college sports. Think about when Michigan and Ohio State spew their hate on the field. Look at how the Red River Shootout (Texas vs. Oklahoma) shapes out. Or think about in-state rivalries like Iron Bowl (Auburn vs. Alabama), the Civil War (Oregon vs. Oregon State), or Clean Old-Fashioned Hate (Georgia vs. Georgia Tech). You have two schools that just DO NOT like each other. Then too, think about this in regards to pro rivalries. You have a rivalry in the NFL like the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams will still play hard. However, the feeling of true hate isn't as exemplified as in college. College is so truly connected to the players they worship. You can basically stop some of the players as they are around campus and tell them how cool they are. You seem easier connected to players in college than you are in the pros. It's just good old rivalry football in college. Better in college than in the pros.

But what do YOU think? By the way, the Texans beat the Cowboys 28-16. Congrats to my boys on this game.

College football for sure, the Michigan vs. Ohio St. rivalry has to be one of the greatest in all of sports.
