I haven't played a need for speed in a while, I enjoyed Underground 1 and 2 the most.
Anyway besides that, discuss.
Do you think that it will be good, and I hear that you can customize cars a lot ?
Like body kits, spoilers and such?
Also what cars would you like to see as dlc, considering you've seen the car list?

Graphics and physics way better in GT5. There is just no point arguing about this. I might as well been playing with a pad than my G27 with shift, cant feel the road at all.

Yeah but its a nice change from the grinding...plus the ai is fun and the crashes are epic... :)

definitely agree mate, but there the least things I want in a 1-2hr league race. That helmet cam is quite good. Looking forward to getting the Ferrari's. Other than that, its not just not my type of game. Coming from gt5, rfactor and iracing, game is to dumbed down compared.

If you havent played a NFS in a while make sure you check out the new one called Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. Criterion did an amazing job with the game and went back to the true roots. Its the most fun NFS game in many years. 👍
One thing for sure about Shift 2 is that we know ALL the cars will have an interior view. :)

not at all.. 800 ps2 cars, crappy shadows and 2d scenaries are part of the game.. gt5 grpahic is not more than a 6 just for premium cars in photomode.

Exactly. Its laughable when people say GT5 graphics are better. When GT5 is in phototravel and the car is all by itself, then yes it looks amazing. Other than that the graphics are no better than the other racing games. And sure as heck not with standard cars.

The answer is ... it depends. If you focus on the 800 cars then yes.

So far (level 9), the body kits and spoilers are part of a kit you can buy, not that exciting to me, wish there was more to the body modding.

As for the editor, it's pretty bland, the paints are cool, nothing new and decals are not that impressive, still am wondering why I haven't seen any letters or numbers?

The AI though is quite impressive, I wish GT5 had AI like this, very competitive and to go from GT5 AI, who are basically blind turtles, to these rabbits, is quite shocking.

Damage is a lot better, the crashes are intense.

It's a lot closer a race than I thought it would be and Shift might be winning but I'll need a few more days to know for sure. The things that GT5 does better, it only does a little better (physics, maybe graphics). The things Shift does better, it does WAY better (race feeling, customization, career mode).

you can't really compare shift with gt5 because they are different. one is more arcade-ish and made to entertain and the other is more serious and realistic driving. but gt5 is way better i believe the only thing shift has going for them is the customization part.

^ explain to me where the shift physics suffer, proper explanation please? Honestly I want to know where the videos have been lying to me?

There may be problems with wheel settings and FFB, but to me the cars at least 'look' very realistic in their behaviour in the vids. I unfortunately can't judge properly yet as I get the game tomorrow.

One is meant to entertain and the other.....

Indeed.

Shift 2 is about the racing experience, with some driving tacked on.

GT5 is about the driving, with some racing experience tacked on.

I am glad I have both, but GT5 is still my main racing/driving game.
