The Nissan Almera is a small hatchback produced from 1995 to 2006 that was the successor to the Nissan Sunny and the European version of the Pulsar (N15) and Bluebird Sylphy (N16). The Samsung SM3 and Nissan Latio is also marketed as the Almera. The first generation (N15) was almost identical to the Nissan Pulsar aside from some trim options and engine options. The car launched with 2 engines as either a 3 or 5 door hatchback, a 1.6 "GA14DE" petrol and 2.0 "CD20" diesel but in 1996 Nissan also launched the "2.0 GTI" model with the "SR20DE" engine, but was only available in the 3 door hatch. The 2.0-litre GTi had an optional 'aggressive-looking' factory bodykit, with BMW M3-style side skirts, and front/rear splitters. Non-bodykit models came with a simpler plastic front splitter. The GTi featured uprated suspension, front and rear strut braces and a quicker steering rack. The car also received a facelift in 1998, with the GTI version getting a more subtle and sturdy bodykit.
