From Car and Driver.com:

The Azeal sports-coupe concept shows Nissan is eager to present a challenge to the compact Scion tC coupe. The first concept car designed by Nissan’s new studio in Farmington Hills, Michigan, the Azeal blends aggressive lines into a small and potentially affordable package. According to Nissan, the Azeal is a fresh interpretation of the small sports coupe—an affordable, high-performance, entry-level coupe with an emphasis on personality and aggressive styling—that hints at a possible production coupe based on the next-generation Sentra. So if you don’t quite have the cash or credit to step into a 350Z, Nissan may have just the car for you. But be prepared to wait, as the decision to put the Azeal into production has not yet been made.

Edit: Small tid-bit from Car Connection:

Although we can’t vouch for what would be under the hood of a production version, the AZEAL show concept is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential helping to put the power to the road through the front wheels. :sly: 👍

Nice Concept saw on MSN Autos concepts make it to production most of the time now would be a perfect replacement to go against Scion and the benchmark compacts(Corolla,Civic,Focus and new Cobalt?)

All these new concepts that are coming out refresh my memory of the Miata concept that we saw a couple years ago. Is there any updated info on that car? It would make an outstanding difference to the MX-5 / Miata line.

This thing isn't quite as attractive as it could have been. Hopefully a production version will undergo plenty of physical enhancements.

Very promising car! The styling isn't too bad, the front looks a bit too low in comparison with the rest of the car, but otherwise it reminds me of the old Focus. It's something fresh and new in a class which is severely lacking in style.

As for the internals, it sounds it's got all the right stuff. Turbocharged 2.5L I4, six speed transmission, and to top it off a LSD. If it's priced right, I'd love to buy one of these in the future (It would have to be priced under a Mustang GT). I can't wait to see some performance specs of this car!

It's ok... I'd like to see pics of the back. I'm not too crazy about the name.

edit : did a little search I guess this thing is pretty serious about going into production?

Anyway, It kinda reminds me of the Scion tC especially from this pic.

A bit of tC, a bit of Infiniti G35, and a bit of a unique new style. If they can keep the price down, I think this would definitely be able to compete.

Tone down the styling a bit and call it a 240SX, and it's a winner.

BUT, if they called it the 240sx and kept it FWD, they would have a serious problem on their hands. They would get so much crap from all the drifting fanatics out there.

The cabin/cockpit(w/e you want to call it) is perfect but the front and rear of the car looks like something they stole from some mini car i mean the frnt like stops so short its like a nub and the back is like a molded blob....they just need to make the angle on the front much more shallow to elongate it and then it would be cool

Agreed. But as GT3man said, it would have to be RWD, otherwise it would be like Toyota making the Celica FWD. A FWD 240SX just doesn't sound right at all.

Looks pretty nice. With an traditional or mesh grill, it would look even better. I wish it was an hatchback with little more practicality(room) or an RWD.

EvO... the Celica is FWD.. it has been since the Mk4 model I believe...

240SX and FWD... eww... maybe if they did 200SX, that would be okay.. even though the 200SX was RWD at first too.

Its got too rapid a drop on the nose, and it looks alot like a tC... something Nissan hybrid styling or somesthing. A bit to blunt for my taste...

Do you know they called it a 240SX? It should be called the 250FZ, IMO. Kind of like a mini 350z meets a FF-250SX. I likey, but it needs some minor revisions, mainly the shoulders and front bumper.

I know that the Celica is FWD, which is exactly why I used it in my example. It started out as a great little sports coupe. Then came the drivetrain change, and it was all downhill from there.

It looks like the new Eclipse that just debuted, I think Nissan ripped it off but did a worse job. The car looks like crap if you ask me.

It can look like crap, but if they keep the drivetrain the way it is, (2.5 turbo w/ six speed) I'll own one anyway. ;)
