Ok guys I just got the academy download. Done the first 5 all on gold. But I want to improve my times. I have loaded someones time to follow from the top 10.
What i seem to find it they are ahead from the start.

Im using a DS3 and the person time out of the top 10 is also a DS3 time.

I just cant seem to get quicker.

I really wouldn't worry about it, wait for the challenges that are more challenging in the later rounds.

This. I think PD would more likely favour someone who has better times on the more challenging rounds than one who has better times on rounds as easy as this one.

Sure, but there is no reason not to practice now (if you want to seriously compete in the later rounds). Right now he has a problem that he's noticed and I'm sure he would like to address that issue BEFORE the next round starts?

The only advice I can give at the moment would be to check you shift points and compare with your ghost you have loaded. Also, make sure to use a manual transmission. Check out the replay you have saved on the Replay section of the main screen. Here you can watch exactly how people perform and what they do (replicating it is another story). If you're using a DS3 I would also recommend turning the controller sensitivity down to -2.

Thing is. The leaf is automatic its a electric car, so has to be auto transmission. I just dont understand how i am slower. I am following the guys line. I just cant work it out.

I am basically doing this because i not the best at GT5 and want to really learn the stuff.

I see. Then I think your problem would be you're not "hooking" 2 tires on the curbs. It will have a different feel to it when you do it properly and it will most definitely make you faster. If they pulling ahead on turns I would bet this is the problem. Also, if you're starting from a stand still, try turning your wheels a bit before take off.

I have now got gold in all the events I can. I want to now work on the times. I think i finally have the DS3 setup lovely with the button mappingn its just getting that little faster.
I will try what you all said.

In my opinion, the Nissan LEAF is like the practice mode for tai chi. You practice extremely slowly to get perfect with your moves. Then, when it's up for real, you will be [hyperbole]perfect[/hyperbole].

This is how i see it. The leaf is helping me a lot. I only every use to play GT5 with the assist set to normal. Now i have been trying to learn the game. So the leaf is a good aid in my eyes

I'm not completely sure, but doesn't it say that only the times for round 8-5 are used to determine who's going to the next round?

If so: just have fun golding the first 7.4 rounds :)
