im looking to see if I can get around this and I’m being very silly or this is just a small issue limited people will find.

I race with no HUD, and have done for a the best part of gt5 and gt6. I feel I perform better not concentrating on the track map etc. But one issue I’ve came across in my Gr3 ventures is the fuel usage. I use the 911 RSR and when doing enduro’s, I need to have the HUD on otherwise I’ll run out of fuel! More annoyingly, you can’t change the fuel map settings either!

The real question is, has anyone found a way around this?

Just for reference, I use g29 and DS4

Well.... I'm note sure what you want. You need a "no HUD unless there's something important" option.
Can you switch to in-cockpit view on a straight and check on the dashboard?
Do any of the Gr3 cars allow you to change the fuel map or is that just in Gr1 cars? I've only used that feature once, in a campaign mission which required it.

I’m looking to see if I’m being silly and totally missing it in the cars. Any car has a map setting during the race from what I’ve experienced. I drive in cockpit mode and the car has no fuel display

If we had a button to toggle the HUD on & off in real time while driving, you know like most other sim racing games have, then this wouldn't even be an issue. But because PD keeps on failing to listen to what GT players need, they create this issue themselves. Will they ever learn...

Thank you!
This is exactly what I've been missing: an option to turn off individual onscreen items such as the tyres, the FMD menu and the track map for instance.
I also race with no HUD and really hate it when endurance races practically force me to turn everything on; there's way too much info I don't need or don't want to see when driving cockpit view.

I think Project Cars 1 absolutely nailed it with its HUD looking like this (minus the track map):

Ohhh.. ok, yeah you're right. I can't find an option either, that must be annoying. That's an annoying oversight... I wonder where the driver sees it in real life; presumably somewhere on the steering wheel display.

Actually, when you have the HUD off, can you still change the TCS and brake balance, etc. on the fly? I had a quick go and can't seem to work it. Even with the HUD on I couldn't get the fuel map option to appear in the quick settings thing during race either...

HUD is annoying, I would ideally like to be able to setup a custom HUD, with Laps left, position on track (or implement pit-boards), radar and Fuel Laps Remaining only.

Still no 360deg camera view for the chase view... They're the best in industry for some very complex subject like lighting but we still have the Mr Bean hood view...
Best 3D model car with ultra detailed backseats: no "Forzavista" mode...

What I liked about gt5, is that you could pretty much pick and choose what you wanted. I turned pretty much all race info off and left the speedo with fuel and tyres on. I don’t understand why they’ve changed this to be honest. It really is one of the most cluttered screens on a racing game I’ve seen and it’s so annoying. Along with this damn ghosting when you go through a corner a lot faster than the game thinks acceptable!

As for the option to change abs/tcs with hud off. I’ve managed to change balance but never tcs.

I like a clean cockpit mode myself. Spun out and crashed in a lobby last night. Lap 3 of ten lap race. All because I had no idea tire wear was set to 12x. With more sensible rates you can feel the grip go and pit but this time it seemed to just happen in a few hundred yards. Turned hud back on and noticed tires over half depleted!

Hi all,

I think this thread should be pinned.

I am no big fan of gr3/4 cars so I do not enter regularly in those type of races.

However I find absurd that only a few racing cars have a fuel gauge in cockpit view.
Most show all sorts of info, more or less useful up to you to decide, but no fuel!

This I think should be addressed asap otherwise it’s impossible to do the current daily races / endurance.

This is an old thread. One of the updates to GTS added text that appears on screen when you get below 1.2 laps worth of fuel so it has been addressed.

Thanks for the update.

Important consideration though:
Even with that warning text people with no HUD cannot have any sort of strategy because we can not adjust our pace based on the remaining fuel simply because we don’t know how much left there is. Also we cannot see how much fuel we are using per lap.

What I find absurd is that the dashboard of most racing cars are filled with useless info (temperatures of all sorts) but PD has not thought of showing a simple fuel level in any sort of form.

Let me get rid if the useless track map on the top right of the hud at least. The less clutter the better.
