No Luck!!

I got my copy of PAL version of GT4P and the Swap disk today and man, was I excited. After loading it into my ps2 and await for the something to show up. Damn why is the picture zigzagging? Yes I used the DVD ver.2.0 swapt disk, so my question is. Is there a way I can change the setting from PAL to NTSC version.

Swap disk CD-R ver. 3.0 (video options= NORMAL, PAL, NTSC)
DVD ver. 2.0 (video options= none)

Help! must play gt4

Hmm, no one else seems to have encountered your exact problem after a quick search, does your TV support PAL playback? I'm assuming you have an NTSC TV/PS2, if your TV doesn't support PAL mode things might be weird, PAL and NTSC use a different number of lines on the screen.

Do a search for 'swap disc' and you'll find a few threads but I have a feeling the mode may be your problem. Any techies confirm?

PAL uses 50 Hz and NTSC uses 60 Hz.

i found this. you can try...
(you can find CD Loader V7+ here http://swapmagicfix.com/ or maybe V1- V6 depends on your PS2 version.

I cant verify this methods, since i dont have no swap magic discs. :/

I got GT4: Prolouge to werk by:

1. Boot up the Swap Magic CD Loader

2. Change video mode to NTSC.

3. Swap it out with the CD Loader V7+

4. After that's loaded, press EJECT on the PS2 and pop in the Swap Magic DVD loader. Press X

5. When the screen says "Swap by EA method", swap the loader with your GT4 disc that's been converted to NTSC with any PAL>NTSC program (I used the ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix. ADR patcher didn't werk for me.)

6. There it is! Everything looks good. Just adjust the screen on the options and there you go!

I ran into one problem though...

I CAN'T ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME!
I pick my car and everything and when I try to start actually playing it, it won't load. The screen turns black.

I got this far and I was wondering if anyone knew how to actually play this game. Thanks!

I've gotten GT4 Prologue working by using DirtStyle's method. I only did 2 things differently. 1) I converted with both ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix and ADR Patcher (in that order). 2) I switched my settings in the game to 4:3 instead of 16:9. I'm not sure which did the trick but it's working just fine

1) Load Swap Magic CD. On the boot screen, switch to NTSC mode.
2) Flip-top switch to CD Loader and use "Special Boot" (aka the square button)
3) When it loads up, eject the tray and load Swap Magic DVD.
4) When it asks to swap by EA method, do a flip-top switch to your patched GT4 Prologue DVD.

I thought it was working...I started the first lesson in the driving school, and it showed me what to do. Then, I press start to start the lesson and the screen turns black and nothing is happening.

I pressed buttons and waited for a while and it worked!

I finished the lesson and now it won't finish loading the main screen. It's stuck on a loading screen.

I reset the PS2 and tried again, and I've had no problems. I'm already halfway through the lessons.

I just used ADR patcher to make sure pal2ntsc worked. ADR Patcher didn't find any spots to patch for me either. Since I have a v5 PS2, I use CDLoader v1-6. I used the full GT4 Prologue ISO.

I have the NTSC TV/PS2 so I'm just trying to play the Pal version of the game. I have 2 swap disk one is for CD-R backup game and the other one is a DVD version of a swap disk, where it can only read DVD version. Since I have the DVD version of the game it doesn't have the video option where I can choose PAL or NTSC. Yes the CD-R version of the Swap disk have an option of PAL and NTSC modes.

Wow amazing, I finally got it to work guys. For those of you who wanted to play the Pal version of Prologue but can't play cuz you have the NTSC/PS2 system you should be happy. Here's how I got it to work.
steps:
1) insert the CD-R version of the SWAP DISK
2) after it's done loading, press the EJECT button and insert the DVD ver. of the SWAP DISK.
3) Wait for about 2 minute for it to recognize the disk, then select VIDEO= NTSC.
5) Press X not Square to load the DVD Swap Disk.
4) after it recognize the DVD ver. Swap disk, Apply the SLIDE CARD trick to eject the disk.
5) Replace the DVD ver. SWAP DISK with your Back up GT4 Prologue and press X.

That's it. Damn it I shoulda wait before I order the Japanese ver. of Prologue. BIG BIG MISTAKE. Oh well Now I got both prologue version.

did you patched with something the GT Prologue DVD image?? or its a Original Disc???

It's an ISO version of GT4 Pro. But like I said I already order the Japanese NTSC version a couple days agon and it should be here in about 2 weeks or so, I believe. The copy version doesn't seem to work really well. It took me atleast 5 time of trying just to get it to work. Sometime it just won't load so if you desperately wanted to play it, I suggest you keep on trying until it work or else get a real one. I ran out of details to give. I'll give you the web site later, cuz I'm at work right now. GOOD LUCK!!
