Noobling here to say hello

hello all,

I am new to GT5 although I have played GT4 a ton with a friend although always just the 2 player battle, never the SPEC events.
I registered here because I really need tips on getting to a point where I can race in multiplayer races online.
Any help would be greatly appreciate as I am quite lost as to the best way to get to where I need to be (to race online).
